A seat is a seat is a seat....simple as that....you are buying a seat. |

a seat is a seat, the kid still takes it up!!! |

Because if your child wasn't sitting in that seat then someone else could. You are paying for the seat space that your child occupies, and that's all. That's why airlines charge more for obese people who take up more than one seat - because if the person didn't take up a seat and a half, then they could sell that seat to another passenger. |

Take the bus and quit complaining. |

Anybody regardless of age who takes up a seat is charged the same price as anyone else, It is only fsir to charge an occupied seat the same price of every other don't complain nag or cry it's better than walking. |

Because they won't fit in the overhead bin, and hiding them inside the decompressed belly of the play warrants a murder charge. |

i think it's ridiculous! A clhild should get a lower fare. |

Well, I guess it's a little more convenient than hanging her out the window the entire trip! :) |

They usually will charge 70%. That is what I paid wherever I brought my child for travelling. I have been travelled to many different places in last few months and I have travelled with Singapore Airlines, Eva Air, American Airlines... |

Get rid of that entitlement attitude. Your daughter doesn't deserve anything more or less than anybody else just because she's young. She'll still be taking up a seat. |

because the child occupies 1 full seat and the aviation laws will not allow you to hold a child over two years old |

Because regardless of age, if your child is in the seat, they can't sell it to someone else. |

uhhhhhhhhhmmmmm Because just like an adult she is taking up a seat? I dont see anything unfair with that, it will be unfair and wrong if they were charging you adult price for her to sit on your lap wich she isnt, Not allowed to sit on lap after they are 2. |
|

FnK

She can't sit in your lap. She has to be seated and buckled in, and you have to pay for her seat. |

They used to charge half price. It doesn't surprise me that they no longer do, with all the complaining they do about having trouble to stay on business. Not only do they no longer feed you, but I went to Canada last week and Air Canada said their new policy was to sell the pillows and blankets! |

Yes, because she is occuping a full seat that could be sold to a full paying adult. You can always hold her on your lap, but that might get very tireing. Remember, the airlines are already loosing money, you want them to loose more? |

I work for an airlines and they will lose money if they charged less for an kid seat when they can easily get an adult price for that seat. This sucks but it's fair. |

A child who is old enough to occupy a seat will be charged full fare. If it was a child that could be held all the way then they would charge you child's fare. |

The airlines do serve meals, so a two year old and a 40 year old take up the same space and require the same amount of service. |

then lie tell them she is not 2 years old, kids dont have IDs, airplane companies want to make a profit, also a child takes up a seat... |

Some airlines do still offer cheaper rates for a child, call the airline directly to find out, they dont normally offer the fares on the website. DO NOT FOR ANY REASON lie and say your child is under 2 and you want them as a lap child. Agents can and will ask for a copy of a birth certificate if the child is obviously over 24 months and flight attendants will remove you from a flight. We have FAA guidelines to follow.
Basically you are purchasing space on a plane, no matter how big the butt is. It may not seem fair, but we dont have different rates for someone who is 100 lb and barely takes up a half a seat and someone who is 200lb and takes up the whole seat. But, the person who gets it worse than a mother and child is the person who is obese and takes up 2 seats. We have to charge for a 2nd seat in some instances. That one is much harder to handle than a mom and a kid. |

For the airline, a seat is aseat, no matter how big the passenger is. |
