Why doesn't the airlines supply parachutes to all of it passengers in case of an emergency?

there is no need of parachute . the safety rate of airline transport is very high.
you will freeze ur butt as the air is -56 degree celsius.
and die in 15 seconds as there is no air.

jumping out of an airline plane would require more equipment than just a parachute.and a special training.

even in small plane there is no need of parchutes except if you do aerobatic maneuvres.

Um id say because the chance of a plane crash is a million to one and no one is trained to use a parachute either

Liability & space- once you pay for and store all those parachutes you assume responsibility - at least in part - for their use. How many passengers have instruction on parachutes?

I think it would be bad for morale and stir up the nervous passengers. When I was on a cruise and we went up on the bridge, I was interested in sinking and Titanic-type stuff but they constantly ignored me lest I get worried or something. Not to mention the fact that in many cases a parachute isn't going to do you a whole lot of good.

Most airline deaths are the result of a catastrophic plane failure or terrorism. Anything less, the pilot can probably handle.

This is such a rediculous thought. When an airplane crashes, it goes down fast and usually with out warning. There isnt enough time for to evacuate an entire commercial aircraft for one. Secondly commercial aircraft are not designed to allow people to jump from the emergency exits mid air and opening a pressurized cabin mid air would be more catestrophic sucking out anything and everything. Parachuting is done at a constant altitude, not when a plane is in a dive or roll.

I hate to sound negative, but do you really think you'd have time to put it on? When airplanes go down, they just DROP!!! Sorry, but that's true.

Because airplanes are always high enough off the ground to allow enough time for everyone to make it out the door and still be high enough for a parachute to work. There is not enough time to properly teach everyone on board how to sky dive. It's much more expensive than just letting everyone die.

I think they do, most of the time they're going to be on a little box on top of your sit (in the ceiling part) or under your sit. Sometimes they don't tell the passengers that the parachutes are there so that they wouldn't be playing with them, I think they only tell the passengers where they are at, in an emergency!

Why do people keep asking this stupid question?

Would YOU know how to put on a parachute and use it in an emergency? Do you think any of the other 300 people on the plane do? Then, have those 300 jump out, over possibly dangerous terrain, spread out in a line 200 miles long.

Yeah, parachutes would save SO many lives.
