Why is it that first class passengers at all airlines still.....? |
get their food served on "real" china with "real" cutlery and we in economy have to go with the paper and plastic things?
It can´t be safety reasons ONLY,because as you remember some of the 9/11 terrorists were seated in the first class sections. |

I think you have hit on an important point, in that all passengers have to endure a completley pointless laborious and invasive security process to get on board an aircraft and then the airlines hand out tools which in the wrong hands could be used to threaten the lives of those on board including the crew.
Without wishing to labour your point however ,where does one stop ?....whilst your implication that ceramic crockery and metal cutlery could be used in a terrorist situation is well founded, it is also perfectly simple to cut someones throat with a serrated plastic knife,........it would be very easy for a terrorist to use a pen to kill someone by thrusting it through their eye and drinks can opened out creates a weapon nearly as sharp as a razor blade ....the list is endless.
What security services should be doing is using their intelligence in both senses of the word to try to identify suspects and targetting passengers using risk assessment criteria rather than doing a "blanket" confiscation of all these items often alienating large sections of the public. Common sense to this whole situation is lacking and we are very much the worse off for it. |

First class tickets cost a lot more but, what the heck. Shareholders and taxpayers have lots of money, right? |

well they did PAY more, so they deserve a little extra right? if you want better service then you have to pay the price. |

It's not like they give you steak knives with sharp points or meat cleavers in 1st class, and I've never heard of a terrorist using china to take over a plane. The terrorists who were seated in 1st class used weapons they smuggled on board, and 1st class passengers have to go through the same tightened security checkpoints as the economy class passengers. I travel to Asia often, and the airline I usually fly gives real cutlery to all passengers, you do get nicer cutlery in 1st and business class, and the economy class passengers do get plastic knives, but you should get something for paying as much as ten times more than economy class passengers do, and I don't believe there have been any incidences where a terrorist has used 1st class cutlery to take over a plane. Besides security, it's all about money these days, and I'm sure most airlines serve your food in the most economical way possible, that's why they call it economy class. |

It is the airlines' attempt to make the first class passengers feel special. However, it doesn't make the food taste any better. |
|

Very happily married.
 |
That is why they pay more money, I wouldn't be happy to pay that much money and get the same service as economy class. |

I have flown in economy on several occasions and have had silver cutlery.
Mind you I was flying internationaly and domesticly within australia and TRUST ME, our security is nearly as paranoid as your american security but our security doesnt take an hour to get though either :)
And first class, if i payed top dollar for a first class seat for plastic forks, i would be mad!
Next time, be thankful for what you get....they could always let us eat with our hands! |
