On US Flights, that has been removed since 9/11.
Why was it there? To help cusion all the noise from coach passengers traveling with children so that those in first class can have more privacy, more quiet, and be able to work better.
It was also used to keep coach passengers from going back and forth in between the class cabin that they paid for and the more expensive class cabing that they did not.
It's interesting--there is a great deal of hatred on this board of "coach passengers" against the first class cabin. I don't understand that. Those in first class chose to pay more to get a great deal more space, comfort, and service. It's not that those in first class think they're better, but judging from this board the people in coach think the people in first think they're better... Why is that? |

to stop the smell of the economy food entering the business class |

Beacuse of privacy.
And also, so people flying in Economy don't look at all the goodies people flying in Business or First are getting, including travel kits, PTV, bigger seats, more room, more choices of food, etc. |

They don't want the coach passengers wandering up and using the first class bathroom. |

They are there so you can feel well done to if you are 'bumped up' a class, This happened to me recently and other than better seating and we were served first I noticed no difference. The economy air hostess was much better looking anyway. |

Is this a riddle?
I think you should 'draw' your own conclusions ;-)
Wouldn't it be good to be in your shoes though?

In the US those curtains are no longer allowed to be used. The crew has to be able to maintain a clear view of the entire cabin the entire flight. This is since the events of 9/11. It was used to seperate FC from MC. Nothing more, nothing less. |

i believe so the economy class cannot see what the first class passengers receive that they dont. from the airlines. |

Part of the point of the premium cabins is to create an ambiance of exclusivity and sereneness. Keeping coach passengers from wandering around will help that.
(PS - There are mesh curtains being used in the US now. And no, not all classes are created equal.... fly Southwest if you want to be "equal") |

Don't pay attention to the man behind the curtain. |

The real reason is, economy class passagers should not be able to see what is going on between the cute flight attendant and the big fat pig seating in first class. |
