Will United's new policy of 1 free checked bag per passenger keep you from flying the friendly skies? |
They'll charge for any additional checked bags. |

No, I'll fly whatever is cheapest, even if it is the flying the cattle car. |

Certainly won't help them in my estimation. Some of the other things they are thinking about like charging for a seat assignment are getting extreme. Flying is already like a Greyhound bus with wings. Suppose next they'll charge extra for not crashing. Key will be how the competition reacts. |

I hate United in general, and make it a point to not fly with them, and this is just one more reason. They're incredibly cheap, and I think it'll definitely make people look for options other than United. If I did fly with them, after this new policy, I wouldn't. I can't stand them. |

Well, it's to cover the rising cost of fuel, so if they didn't charge for that, then perhaps they'd just make their ticket costs rise. Sure, I'd rather NOT pay more (who wouldn't?), but the cost is not enough to make me not want to fly.
Other airlines are expected to follow suit, so it probably won't just be United... |

I would rather take less things and shop there than pay for a stupid reason. and getting the items back from my trip.. not sure yet!! I think this is one more fee that we are wrangled in to that we will be annoyed by, not stand up for a change and eventually accpet and become acustomed to. Another form of curtailing our rights and big businesses getting rich. Yes, executives do a lot, but there are more ways to accommodate a customer than pass on all the fees to them. I think airlines have gotten so large that they have forgotten that without the customer, their executives, runway workers and even fuel and manufacturing companies would not be in business. I won't travel less, but I do think it contributes to the mounting surcharges that customer pays, and in turn allows for customers to feel more upset & entitled when their luggage doesn't end up where it should. though it may not be right, customers will be more upset when something occurs that is actually out of the airlines control (weather delays) . well , they are bound to take it out on the gate attendant or ticket counter person. The more I pay, the more I expect. I understand that there is a cost in carrying luggage, there is a cost for everything. but .. I will accept this and although I am not advocating the right to be upset with the gate agent ( other personnel..etc) I hope the airline will accept they will get more angry passengers, even though they are collecting my extra $25. Let's go back to when things were simpler. One fee, delivered with a smile, and meeting customer expectations, because afterall, that is where their paycheck comes from. |
