Will a connecting plane be held if flight is a couple of minutes late arriving?

No, you can't count on that. Holding the connecting flight will make it late, causing delays all along the line. They probably won't hold a flight for one or two people.

Maybe. Last summer, I had a connecting flight in Chicago. My flight was late in leaving and landed in Chicago when my connecting flight was taking off.
I talked to the people at the gate desk where I got off the plane and the airline and automatically put me on a later flight.
When flying, you are not in control at all. Relax and just go with it.

Quite often they will wait for you, as long as both of your flights are on the same airline and your flight isn't too late. I've gotten off planes where I needed to make a fast connection and have been met by airline personnel who have helped me get to the next flight. Also, if you have checked luggage that makes it to your next flight, because of airline regulations the flight will not take off until either you show up or the luggage is removed from the flight. Sometimes. But because of government meddling, they now leave the gate on time and sit on the tarmac waiting for the always delayed takeoff time. So you will see your plane, but won't be able to get on.

Sorry. But if you are in luck, everything will be delayed if you are delayed, so you will have plenty of time to sit in the airport and eat $8.00 hot dogs!

not always. we got stuck sitting on the tarmac for 10 minutes, they wouldnt let us pull up to a gate, we missed our connceting flight AND they told us it was our fault for missing the flight. DO NOT fly TED

Unfortunately, they won't usually hold the plane for one-two people, because it'll be holding up a few hundred others. Remember, it's a connecting flight for you, but likely not for everyone else on board. If you do miss the connecting flight, you should go to the airline's customer service desk and explain the situation. They will either put you on one of their later flights, or if you're in a hurry and can't afford to wait, they will endorse your ticket on another carrier which has a flight leaving sooner and transfer you to them. Nope..If a Flight is running late they do Not care. I took a flight during the summer and had to literally run to my next descent they left at least a good 100 people behind because 3 connecting flights were late..They usually don't have time to wait. They will just put you on the next available flight and (if it was your flight's fault) they will give you something complimentary

not unless you are lucky that the connecting flight is late
or if you are travelling with a group together of like 15 or 20 passenger, so the airline will considering delaying the other airline, since it will cost them a lot if all 20 people missed the flight

Always try to get non-stop.
All these travel sites sell connected flights.
Travelocity is the worst.

I fly ALOT around the USA and I can almost ALWAYS find a non-stop flight to where ever I need to go on one of three sites....

The prices are usually better because I don't pay a travel agent to tap on keys.
United seems the worst........they "stop off" all over the place!!!! Denver,San Fran, Chicago.......argh........
I've also got a few good deals with Delta.....
Seems Delta's nonstops are usually late night departures but thats better than missing connections.....
