Will airline ticket prices be going down soon? |
It seems that, since gas prices are going down, airline fuel costs would be lower, thus lower ticket prices. |

Honestly I don't think tickets will be going down anytime soon. Since the price of gas went so high most airlines have cut their flights down to near bare bones. With less flights the flights will be full so people will pay higher prices to make sure they get a seat. The airlines will be skittish about bringing back flights because of lower fuel prices because the market is so volatile. If they go back up to $140 a barrel next month (just an example, I'm not predicting that's going to happen) then the airlines have to adjust again.

I don't think airline tickets will come down anytime soon. The airlines are still losing money. All airlines have reported a loss. Even Southwest reported that it lost money.
Also they have cut the number of flights they offer so with less supply and high demand, ticket prices will remain high. |

On the news this morning, they said to buy your tickets for holiday travel ASAP if you haven't already. Airlines are cutting the number of flights by roughly 11%, since more people are driving than flying these days. Fewer flights = fewer tickets available = higher prices due to the law of supply and demand. |

They probably won't because fewer people are buying tickets. If the numbers of tickets being sold were increasing, then maybe. |

Unfortunately, I don't think so. I bought a ticket home for Christmas a couple months ago and it costs $520, Now the same ticket costs $498. The airline companies are nickel-and-diming everything from bags to snacks to blankets and I only see them making it worse in the future. |

It will take a while. Most big companies hedge on fuel prices and enter a contract. It depends on how long that contract lasts, 1 month, 2 months, etc before you may see ticket prices go down.
Now the cat is out of the bag that OPEC will try to screw us so prices will go up again. We need to drill here, now. |

Down? Hell they haven't gone up since the 70's....check out the prices from back then! |

I hope so but you know once they are this high in price they usually don't go down. Whether some have reduced some of the taxes. |
