The reason you can't have aerosol cans in your carry-on is for security. Ever seen someone make a blowtorch out of a hairspray can? Even though you can't carry matches or lighters either, they don't take the chance.
Aerosol cans are fine in checked luggage; I've taken many. The entire cargo compartment is the same pressure as the cabin, so the answers about "pressure" are just wrong. If parts of the cargo area were at a different pressure than the cabin, the bulkheads and floors would all have to be airtight and strong enough to handle the pressure differential. This would increase weight and cost. Also, any pets in the cargo compartments could die if the pressure in that areas was too low. It's much easier to pressurize the entire plane at the outer skin, since it's already designed to handle the pressure differential. The only parts of the fuselage sometimes not pressurized are the wheel wells. |

the can is pressurized, i think it will be safe!! there would be huge warning signs saying you couldn't have AquaNet on board. tiny pointy scissors-we know not to bring, but hair spray, never hear not to bring that |

Aerosol cans are banned on airplanes, checked or unchecked. However, the whole aircraft is pressurized, and even if it wasn't the pressure at that altitude isn't low enough to cause an explosion. So pressure is not an issue. The most likely issue is heat. 1) cargo holds get hot, probably not hot enough to explode a can, but why chance it. 2) terrorist+lighter+aerosol can= big boom |

no, it won't. I think if this did happen, though, you would hear a lot more warnings about it considering how often people pack various areosol can products in their luggage. |

No, but it might not spray when you land. It may buckle inward as well and lose pressure. |

If you look at the list of prohibited items to be carried onboard the plane, you will find that aerosol can is listed. The can is under pressure and should there be sudden loss of pressure, there is a good chance the can will explode in flight. The cargo hold is also pressurised, but not as high as the cabin because there is no people there. So, in the cargo hold of the plane, it can explode too.
Any kind of aerosol can is not allowed. It will be a good safety practice if you can check your personal items for such thing before packing. You can always substitute aerosol can for those pump container for your travel kit. You can never tell when an emergency can happen and you do not want to aggravate the situation by your carelessness. |

Mostly all aeroplanes nowdays have PRESSURIZED CARGO compartment..
yes it can explode because in the case of unpressurized cargo compartment the atmospheric pressure can be dropped upto 6-7 psi.. it actually depends on the cruising altitude of the aeroplane..and also depends on the strenght of the aerosol can can withstand in such a case the can would b looking like a inflated balloon because of the loss of outside pressure |

No. The passenger cabin is pressurized, so it is a non-issue there. Even in the unpressurized cargo hold the cans are strong enough to withstand the relatively low pressure dfifferential. If you attempt to USE an aerosol can during a flight you may get a much stronger than expected spray, but no explosion. |

if it's punctured on a plane it will. it's already pressurized, and when your above clouds, it can really get pressurized and can explode if punctured. i think airlines are just more concerned as having it used as a weapon, which can be easily done.
also they're rather flammable, another reason airlines have you check them in, that way you can't use it to blow anything up.
if you check them in, they'll be just fine when you land, at least i've never known anyone to have a problem with it. |

An aerosol can can withstand the pressure difference pretty good. Other things like certain shampoos and tooth paste can explode in your bag and make a hell of a mess/ |

cabins are pressurized, that why we don't explode (jk)
also why your ears pop-the cabin is a little off-pressure, but not that bad. |
