The facts;

You have got more of a chance of being get kicked to death by a donkey than dying in an air crash.

More people die on the roads in a day than they do in a air crafts in a year

Turbulance is safe, it's just the same as being in a car on a bumpy road.

Air travel is the safest way to travel.

You will be fine - enjoy it and have a fantastic holiday.

I know this because I used to be terrified of flying and the more I do it the better it becomes.

There's a lot more chance that you'll get caught up in an earthquake in Turkey than being involved in an aircraft crash.

Kevin C
You are more likely to be involved in a crash driving to the airport rather than on the plane itself.

Your chances of being involved in an aircraft accident are about 1 in 11 million.

Do you want to go on holiday? Then get a grip on yourself. Flying is the safest form of travel. If you are nervous then have a couple of swift ones and you should be ok.
I hate flying but it never stops me getting on the blooming things as there a means to an end.

Think of it this way - your chances of winning the lottery are far far higher than your plane crashing.

Have a good trip!

Maybe by flying out tomorrow, you avoid being killed by a plane crashing into your house. You just never know. That's life for all of us mortals.

Techwing
You're more likely to be killed while trying to get to the airport than you are to die in an airplane crash.

Well, I'll admit it's been a hell of a week for air travel, what with Buffalo and London City Airport. But let's take a deep breath here. I work with professional pilots and navigators every day of my life, with engineers and technicians, all of whom dedicate their entire careers to safely transporting people on commercial aircraft. The odds of annnnything going seriously wrong are infinitesimal. Even in the rare cases when things go wrong, in most cases, all the training and experience, combined with vast technological resources in a modern plane mean that air crews are able to safely land planes with minimum impact - remember Sully, the hero of the Hudson just a few weeks ago. BA might not be a terribly nice company in their business ethics, but the professionalism of their crews is beyond compare.

Relax. You're very very safe on a modern commercial airliner. Have a good trip, and enjoy Turkey.

suzanne
you have more chance of winning the lottery!
I feel like you though-just think would those flight attendants be on the plane if they had the slightest reason to believe it would crash,
It is their job-they have to believe in flying.
Have a nice holiday-before you get on have a stiff drink.LOL

Unknown...
The chance are virtually zero.

I am 14 years old and have flown a lot, more than the average person would in their entire lives! (400 + times already)

Anyhow, don't be afraid, that will just make it worse. It's just been unlucky with the recent crashes, including yesterday's, but it's just a bad day.

But you know what they say? It's more dangerous to drive to the airport than it is to actually fly. It is also proven that the chanced of getting in a plane crash are so unlikely, your more likely to win the lottery 50 times in your lifetime,

But you know what my mom told me? Even though it's not true, its a myth back from her country (Albania).

There was this women who believed in god, and prayed everyday, but she was afraid of death. She was scared to go on the plane, because she thought it would crash, and she would die. It ended up she didn't go on the plane. But, when she was praying, the same exact plane crashed right into her house. She died.

I know this is negative, but my point is, god knows when it's the right time to take you away, and you cannot find a shortcut around death, so whatever happens, happens.

To get back to the positives, I can assure you that you will be fine.
Just chill, take a sleeping med if you're too afraid, and sleep your way through! But enjoy the scenery, the sky is beautiful :).

Just chill and enjoy your flight, you're also going to love Turkey, very beautiful country.

P.S. Get something to keep you occupied, a book, I-pod, ect.

I always have the same fear. My last flight was 17 hours! The best thing you can do chat to whoever is sitting next to you, to take your mind off this. The chances of it happening are so slim; you put your life in danger every day, driving, public transport, weather etc.

You will be fine.. I am also flying tomorrow. I have a fear of flying so I get Xanax from my doctor. But it is much safer than any other form of transportation. Enjoy Turkey

Well - no one can say it will never happen, but really how many crashes are there? And nowadays, planes are really safe.
