Your opinion for BEST MAJOR US AIRLINE? |
What do you think the best US airline is:
American Airlines
Continental Airlines
Delta Airlines
US Airways
United Airlines
Give reasons:
Planes?
Food?
Route structure?
Alliance network?
Please be nice and give reasons to back up your opinon!
Thanks and happy flying! Additional Details Thanks for your responces. Many people have just suggested their own airport and how the airline crew and check in is handeled. Good observation! Some just HATE United, or American, but without reason.
For me, Continental Airlines is very good.
Free drinks on all flights, snack/food on most.
Most international dest. from their New York hub (Newark)
Great crew, bilingual, Skyteam!
Also, United is good also.
You can really get anywhere from A to B.
Star Alliance (so you can fly throughout Europe with their partners!)
Free drinks, music, and snack on their medium hauls.
Nice staff.
Good hubs: Chicago, LAX, SFO, Washington (all of which are "citys you gotta fly to")
If you know of a city that United doesnt serve, but American does, llet me know.
Thanks for you responses once again! |

Flying is a way to get from here to there. Go for the lowest rate. Seek alternate airports near your destination to get even better discounts.
For instance, when flying to Chicago, check the prices at Ohare and Midway from alternate airports in your area. You may be surprised at what you can learn.
The airlines run an odd business. They utilize travel agents, who they do not pay, or provide any form of bonus or compensation.
When flying overseas, consider the Airlines from that country. Excellent service IS provided by Airlines such as JAL, British Airways, Quantas, Singapore Airlines. |

Southwest Airlines-Great Customer Service, fun airline to fly on, can pick your own seat
America West Airlines-Great Customer Service, assigned seating |

Sorry, none of the above. I'm more of the cheap air-bus type and I do consider Southwest a major airline. They don't do extras but their service, reliability and prices are spectacular. I'll be their guest anytime. |

Midwest is amazing. (*Note to the person that calls it "MIDWEST EXPRESS") They dropped the "express" from the name 3 years ago so people didnt think is was the dinky version, that is what Skyway/Midwest Connect is.
Also I love continental!
Worst....UNITED! and AIRTRAN! At least from Milwaukee (I live here) I know most of the gate agents and they are rude. Very rude. |

I like Delta and United Airlines for only one reason, the business class seating. Staff are all pleasant as well. But I've also had to many bad experiences with US carries to actually say I could pick one and stick with them. Continental acutally ripped apart three brand new pieces of luggage on the same flight then they had the nerve to say it was my fault for trusting them with it - that was the all out worst experience.
For flying you can't get better then British Air. Comfortable seating, good meals that actually taste like food, exceptional service, lots of options for picking routes and times.
I just think that US carriers need to learn a lot more about customer service and dealing with people. |

depends on where you need to go.
For example: I currently fly all over ther east coast & southeast. US Air covers that very, very well. Plus I always get upgraded to first. Nobody domestically serves food anymore.
Your favorite airline will depend on where you live: due to the fact that each airline has a carved out territory . Live near Dallas? Fly American. Live near Houston - you probably love Continental. Delta is Atlanta.
Like I mentioned above it also: depends on where you are flying to. Midwest Express (based in Milwaukee, can't take you to Los Angeles) If you live in Boston & want to fly to West Palm Beach Florida: Northwest will fly you way the heck out to Detroit, becasue thats where their hub is. |

Continental by a long shot...
They are the only one who is even remotly good. Their customer service can be rude at times. But they fly the newest planes, have the best in-flight entertainment, and actually still serve meals. |

I like Southwest and Continential Airlines Southwest airlines are cheap and they have excellent service. Continential are very good planes the flight attendents are nice but the only bad thing about Continential Airlines is that they are expensive it cost me myself just about $600.00 to fly and i'm only 13 but it is worth it though. But when I fly I always fly out of DTW {Detroit}. |

I'm a big fan of USAir. Most of their fleet is newer Airbus or Boeings, and they fly the Embraer 170's on short-hauls which are super comfy. Good alliance network. They code-share with United a lot (at least on the routes I fly) and for some reason, you can purchase a ticket on a codeshare flight, and it's always cheaper to buy it from USAir than United. The food is not that important to me--- I usually fly in First Class and they only give snacks on flights less than 2 or 3 hours, but when they do feed you, it's pretty decent.
Most importantly, their customer service is awesome. Something will go wrong on any airline from time to time: lost bags, major delays, overbooking, whatever. That's just the nature of air travel. Fly enough and you'll be in one of those situations. USAir consistently handles these problems in a professional manner. I refuse to fly with American because their customer service is abysmal. |

Hmm... the best airline in my opinion is my former employer-- Frontier Airlines. They are a great domestic airline, but no matter where you go-- if you are flying from coast to coast, you will have to change planes in Denver. Midwest Airlines is another great Airline, based out of Milwaukee. The best national airline in my opinion is Continental Airlines. They have great agreements with other airlines, and are expanding internationally.
The best airlines, in my opinion, are the ones that offer the best customer service. Going off of that-- the worst airlines are American and United. |

SOUTHWEST IS THE CHEAPEST AND THE BEST. I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL AND US AIRWAYS IS THE WORST |

Continental is by far the best. I fly them three to four times a month and they get it right. The planes are new, the food is good and the scheduIe of the flights is good. I only had one issue with them and it was a weather delay, which is beyond their control.
I just felt they should have not cancelled all the flights they did.
Worst is Delta. |

here are the ones ive been on:
MidWest Airlines: comfy seats! u have to pay for a movie, pay for meals, but they give free soda, and free cookies after 10 am.
Delta airlines/ Song Airlines: TV channels! and music. but only a small snack.
American Airlines: when i last flew american, we didnt have to pay for food. but i think its different now. and we also had a free movie.
Air Jamaica: i loved it. dont remember much about it tho. |

I've always been partial to Delta. The staff is friendly and the service is good. The food is okay. They go just about anywhere we want to travel. I have an acquaintance whose husband is a mechanic for Delta. They still do their own work. She said other airlines farm out their work, which, in my opinion is less dependable. Their commuter planes are great, too. I've never had any problem with Delta. |

I love AMERICAN AIRLINES even I have had ups and downs with them I still love them.
#1. They had awsome flight attendents
on one flight they acted like SWA's flight attendents and started singing and telling jokes.
#2. They pointed out where we were flying over when I went to SFO on them.
but Midwest is also awsome espescially their signature service jets, but they don't have them anymore going to SFO from MCI, but their chocolate chip cookies rock! |
