I just came back from Buenos Aires a week and a half ago and I stayed in a rental apartment. This apartment is located in the Recoleta district which is considered as the ritzy area of BA. The rate is very reasonable and the place is really clean and updated. It is walking distance to some of the major attractions in BA, including the Recoleta cemetery, Patio Bullrich, Plaza San Martin, the Obelisk monument, 9 de Julio street, Teatro Colon. The best part of living in the area is safety, you could walk safely at night without any concern. Of course there are other options as to places to stay in BA. There are also hotels in the area but I find them a little expensive _ check out the newly opened Hilton Hotel on Alvear Street.
Below is the website of the place that I stayed in while in BA. Please ask for Tomas Rapallini, the manager. He will be able to give you more information about the apartments (they have several ~ I stayed at the Gaucho) and please tell him Robert recommended the place.

I think the Golden Tulip Savoy Hotel is great (it's located near the Congress, at Callao Street). |
