According to the Buenos Aires city government, it was built in 1890 as a suburban residence (though now it's near the center of the city), by the ingenier Alejandro Hume and the arquitect Carlos Ryder. In 1913, the french exterior designer Charles Thays defined its gardens (he also design the Botanic garden of Buenos Aires and the San Martin park in Mendoza).
In the 1920, the property went to María Faustina and Candelaria Duhau and then to Luis Alberto Duhau. Later on, it was passed on to his son-in-law, John Maguire.
It was declared a national historical monument in 2002.
It's located in Av. Alvear 1683.

Alvear Avenue is an aristocratic avenue offering old classic, neoclassic, eclectic and art nouveau buildings from late XIX th and early XXth century. There are also the magnificent Palacio Pereda and the old French Embassy, among some other beauties.
There's a photo of that old building of your interest in http://mapa.buenosaires.gov.ar/sig/index.phtml
A window named "Localizador de Direcciones" must be at sight; in the blank for "Calle" type "Alvear", and in "Altura" type "1693", then accept everything. A map will open up and click on the corner of the parcel at your right, near the number 1693 and that's gonna be it.
The Hyatt® is not anymore in the area; it's the Four Seasons® nowadays, and is located some 5 blocks from there, around the last corner of Alvear Av.
Cheers.
