Buenos Aires, Argentina life? |
Around this September, I'm going to Buenos Aires. I'll stay for around 3 months and go to a local high school. I'll live like any other Porteno kid, except I don't know that much spanish. I speak some spanish, and I'm learning more all the time, but I won't know enough to get around myself in Argentina. I'll be 15 when I do it, and I have a very good friend who moved there just over a year ago. I've moved to different countries several times, but never to one where I didn't know the language. I'm really looking forward to this though. What can I expect? |

I am from Argentina and live in Chicago. I went to New York last year and fell in love with it, because it reminded me of Buenos Aires so much. Like the other lady said. Think of a New York with spanish speaking people. That is what Buenos Aires compares to. Also a lot of people in Buenos Aires are bilingual, most of us go to English Institutes to learn to speak English and also it is taught at all high schools, so I am sure you would be able to make friends. There are a lot of american expats in the area of Recoleta, and if you walk around the neighborhood you would hear a lot of people speaking english. There are a lot of things to do in Buenos Aires, and I would also recommend you visiting cities outside Buenos Aires, because it is beautiful too. There are certain neighborhoods that are kind of scary if you go alone, so always try to go places where there are large crowds if you go out at night. Enjoy Buenos Aires, you will fall in love with its people. |

You won't have a problem adapting. People are usually very nice, patient and happy to help a foreigner. Most people in Buenos AIres know at least basic english. If you'd like to know more visit my blog argentinafacts.blogspot.com |
