A visit to Buenos Aires would not be complete without seeing a live Tango show, which is one of Argentina’s favorite national pastimes (as well as soccer). The Tango performers are not only passionate, lively and very entertaining, they almost take you back in time to when Tango dancing was part of an Argentinean’s daily life. Many of the shows offer dinner beforehand, where the steak is really out of this world. Your meal will be accompanied with local red wine, which is simply fantastic as well.
One of the more intriguing buildings is their Parliament House, which is actually pink! It is very famous and has been featured in movies such as “Evita”. The many fountains and parks which surround Parliament are also part of the beautiful landscape which you can enjoy while you are touring the capital.
There are a wide variety Argentina tours on Tours4fun, if you are interested, you can visit the website and have a look. |

For me, the Recoleta cemetary is number one. It's just amazing.
Try taking a tango or salsa class at La Viruta. Or at least go there for a drink. It's a unique and quintessentially BsAs experience.

I think the best steaks are at Las Lilas in Puerto Madero. It's a high-end restaurant.
Some people like seeing La Boca but I find it too touristy and don't like the hassle.
Maybe check out a polo match at El Campo Argentino de Polo in Palermo.
Of the different museums, MALBA is my favorite. |

There are so many things to do in Buenos Aires, that it's hard to recommend just a few, but I think that 3 days will give you plenty of time to visit most of them.
If you happen to be in Buenos Aires on a weekend, you will have the chance to visit the great outdoor fairs in Recoleta and San Telmo.
These are the "must sees" for a first time visitor:
Plaza de Mayo: Casa Rosada (Pink House) (this is not the parliament building but the head of the National Government); Avenida de Mayo; Parliament Building in Plaza Congreso.
Puerto Madero and its restored brick docks, Puente de la Mujer.
Recoleta, Palermo Soho, San Telmo.Retiro (Plaza San Martin). Galerias Pacifico.
Museums: Fine Arts Museum (free), MALBA (Latin American Art Museum); Decorative Arts Museum.
And of course, enjoy the food!!
Good luck. |

I spent several weeks in Argentina this year, including a week in BA, and loved every minute. In Buenos Aires, I went on several organized tours which were great, the two best were the Fiesta Gaucha to a ranch in the countryside with an asada lunch and a show, and the Tigre River delta trip, much of which was done on a riverboat. I would also strongly suggest visiting the Recoletta Cemetery, the statues and memorials are pretty amazing.
There's also lots of shopping - jewelry, leather goods, crafts, etc - on Florida Street.
Also, I'd suggest you have dinner at Siga la Vaca, a sort of "Old Country Buffet" but focusing on grilled meats, and about 1,000 times better. I have never had beef anywhere in the world as good as in Argentina.
Have a really great trip! |
