If you plan to fly around the country once there, take their domestic airlines and don't book until you get there - it will be cheaper.. and yes, you will find seats. It's not like in the U.S. where you have to book months in advance. A good airline is "FalconAir" ... don't fly Aerolinas Argentinas... they charge U.S. citizen more than national citizens! Total rip.

I just sent my daughter and mother-in-law to Bsas from CA-I was very surprised, but actually American Airlines had the cheapest fares at the time (August). I've also flown Copa/Varig/Lan Chile-just keep checking sites like Orbitz/Travelocity etc -you can also set up alerts with those sites and they will notify you when prices come down to your desired range.
