Has anyone ever travelled through Jorge Newbery Airpark in Buenos Aires?

Am planning on flying through this airport on Dec. 25, 2008 at 7AM and am wondering how it will be. First, I am a US citizen and speak very limited Spanish. How much of an issue will this be? How much extra time should I allow for the language barrier (am looking at a 7am flight out)? We will not be checking any bags and our trip will be one-way to Trelew. If there are any tips, I am all ears.

You will be fine. Jorge Newberry Airport is a domestic airport and generally the check in and out is pretty fast since there is much less traffic than in International Airport (Ezeiza). Moreover, the airport will not be crowded on the 25th. Generally Argentinians learn English in high school and almost all airport employees speak English, so I do not think that you should have an issue with the language at all. Usually travellers tip the people that help you carrying the luggage but since you will not be checking in bags you do not need to tip. If you drink something at the restaurant I generally leave one dollar as a tip for the coffee.
Enjoy your trip!

Jorge Newbery is an intl airport, but is generally used for domestic flights, almost all employes speak very good english, anyway allow some time like any other airport, for check in betwen flights, for security and any other possible inconvinient.
You are gonna pass through aduana when you arrive and generaly is quick, but sometimes they have to open your bags and check item by item , I have been there half hour looking how they were checking my dirty clothes. Don't you go outside of the airport, and refuse any service like taxis or remises or special buses. Be aware of the money and the change 1 USD= 3 pesos.
Inside of the airport you can pay anything with int'l credit card.
Master card and visa are the most used credit card arround there. at the airport you will find American express too.
This airport is very close to downtown, but anyway I will not recomend you to leave the airport if you don't have at least 6 hours betwen flights.
Anyway, Chistmas morning is gonna be empty till 12.
Good luck

pibe
you won't be having any problem
