Hey! Can anybody give me some advice on traveling in Patagonia?

I live in Buenos Aires, and my first stop will be Bariloche. From there, I would at least like to go to El Bolson, Puerto Madryn, Chalten, and El Calafate. I plan on taking buses and trains. I know that there are several different options as far as getting down there, but I know that some people have found some direct buses and trains that might be the best option. Can anybody offer some advice on how to do this trip most efficiently? I am expecting the trip to take around 2-3 weeks from Bariloche-Calafate. Thanks!

Thanks so much for your responses guys, it has really been helpful. I guess I should have added a few facts: we are young travelers, and our budgets are extremely tight. For this reason, the boat trip to Chile and flights within Patagonia are out of the question. We have decided to fly back from Calafate directly to BA, and that will be our only flight. Basically, my question is really "what is the best route to get from Bariloche to Puerto Madryn, Calafate, and El Chalten. Thanks again guys!

No problem to go from Bariloche to Puerto Madryn (Trelew) by bus. I did it a few years ago in one night (From Trelew to Bariloche). The bus was good and the trip OK. For the south, I am afraid that traveling by bus will be long (and maybe boring).
Without considering the money, I would do this trip by bus from Bariloche to El Bolson, then to Puerto Madryn (I think you will need to transit by Bariloche). I then would take a plane to El Calafate and a bus to El Chalten. For the plane you can look a the Aerolineas website to check the price.
I hope it helps

Look into the Navimag boat trip in Chile. It's a great way to get South. Go Bariloche to Pto. Montt, Chile. Boat to Pto. Natales. Bus to Calafate, stopping in Torres del Paine NP. See Perito Moreno glacier near Calafate. Fly back to B.A. or bus to Pto. Madryn.

Yeah! If I were you I would go to the bus terminal in Retiro, they do have buses that go straight to Bailoche, from there you can do the same thing, just go to the bus terminal and request the next destination. If you do all this by bus it will probably take 2-3 weeks for sure. What I did in Argentina and it was fabulous is this :

good luck on the trip!
