Ms Maia is correct, it will cost you about $1,000, give or take a few hundred, to get from the US to Buenos Aires. Your best bet is probably a connection to Atlanta or Texas (Austin, I think), and then a long direct flight to BA from there.

And ignore what that twit has to say about the country and it's people, I've traveled all over Patagonia and while it IS different from the US, it is not a 3rd world country, a ghetto, or filled with arrogant people. In fact, my experience has been exactly the opposite - I found the Argentine people to be very warm and friendly, and the country beautiful. Sure, there is some horrific poverty, particularly around the outskirts of BA, but has anybody been to Detroit lately? The country has a tumultuous past and is struggling to find it's footing so to speak, but to call it a ghetto and a 3rd world country is doing it a grave injustice.

Argentina is a wonderful country, and I hope you have a great time!

You could get a ticket online for about $1000, depending on the season. Once there, you'll get 3.5 pesos for every dollar - so you'll triple your money. A steak dinner in a fancy restaurant with wine, dessert, and whatever else for two would you run about $40 (as opposed to $200). Just remember the seasons are reversed - our summer is their winter. Other than that, I've never met anyone that went and didnt have the time of their life, myself included. Its fun!!

Anyone who says Argentina is a 3rd world country has obviously never actually been to a 3rd world country. I've been to Argentina, and I've been to 3rd world countries. Argentina is definitely NOT a 3rd world country. As a matter of fact, it used to be one of the 10 wealthiest countries in the world.

In more recent years, they've had economic/political problems, but it's still a quite developed country, especially in comparison with most other countries in South America. Chile is the only country in that area that would more closely resemble a '1st world' country than Argentina.

As far a cost of getting there, I've traveled for as little as $650 one-way. Since you're in Maryville, you should probably check prices from Kansas City and possibly Omaha, and adjust your dates a little bit to find the cheapest flight.

I just looked up tickets (for myself) and LAN is having a pretty good deal right now, as long as you are flexible with your dates. They are advertising $594 roundtrip. Great deal!!
