Argentina.
People are so friendly and helpful.
Buenos aires is fantastic, a mix of Paris,Milan and Madrid, many things to visit there.
In January you can go to the coast, beaches, amazing nightlife and many activities.
In the North you have Iguazu falls, incredible, in the middle of the rain forest you'll find this amazing water falls, speachless!
You can go south to Bariloche or Mendoza, places better known for their ski resorts, but during summer they are great for hiking, biking, and any outdoor activity you may like.

Go to Argentina!! I am also going to be in Mar del Plata in January for about 2 weeks and then im going to Buenos Aires. If possible, you should definately take a train to Buenos Aires and spend some time there too. Argentina weather will be warm and the beach beautiful!

G'day Albertalbert,

Thank you for your question.

I would go to Argentina given that it is summer there and winter in Japan. I would see if I could take a rain check on Japan and go there when it is warmer.

Argentina tends to have hot humid summers although the highlands are cooler. Japan tends to have cold winters with the exception of the southern islands such as Okinawa.

I prefer warm weather to cold weather so I would go to Argentina in January in preference to Japan.

Regards

Are you interested in learning spanish or japanese? Do you like cold weather of hot weather? Do you like asian culture or latin culture? Well, if I were you, I would go to Mar del Plata anytime, without a doubt!!

I'm from Argentina... I'm sure the weather will be really hot here in January. Mar del Plata has nice beaches but will be VERY crowded since everyone will be enjoying their summer holidays. If there's anything else you'd like to know, feel free to email me: fbechelli@yahoo.com.ar or yellow.rose90@hotmail.com
See you around =P

You should go to Argentina! Like everyone said, the weather will be really warm as it will be summertime in Jan, so you should really base your decision on what type of weather you prefer. I've never been to Japan (and I'm sure it's amazing!) but I love Argentina; it's so fun :) And it holds a special place in my heart!

Come to Argentina, I am English but, live here. It is a damn site cheaper than Japan, the women are prettier and it will be as has been mentioned Summer!!!! It is great here. Spanish I guess is also a lot easier to learn then Japanese!! Good luck and see you here in Jan

kate
The weather might be much better in Argentina in January but I didn't check the map for sure, but it will be summer there.

Argentina is more convenient, not only for the warm weather, but also for the exchange rate. Everything is much cheaper than Japan: food, tickets, clothing, shoes, lodging, etc.

Rainbow
You should go to Singapore!! It's great there.
