I want to travel from Bangkok to Buenos Aires by ship but not a cruise. Where do I go?

Travel agencies don't understand "I DON'T WANT A CRUISE SHIP", all I want is a trip by ship. Same as a flight, only longer.

wow, that's adventurous of you!

I doubt there are any ships that go directly from Bangkok to Buenos Aires. You would probably have to take several ships and transfer in major ports like Singapore, Madras, Cape Town...

I'm not even sure if or how you would get aboard a ship. The only ships that go on routes like that these days are commercial trading vessels - most like container ships.

I hear that it is sometimes possible to get a berth on one of these ships, but it is certainly not an everyday occurence.

Good luck, though! Sounds exciting!

(alternative is...you could apply for a job as a sailor or deckhand! :) )

Try your local international port. Look for a ship going your way and ask the captain can you work your way.
