If you only have two or three days to visit Buenos Aires, what are the must-sees? |
I'm planning on passing thru after a trip to Antartica in 2/08. What neighborhood in the city is best to stay in? What luxe hotels/restaurants can you recommend? (Am particularly interested in where to eat the best Argentine beef!) Where are the best places to shop? Any particular tour companies that are suggested? What touristy things are most and least important in your view and why? I'd love to hear from anyone who lives/lived there or has visited recently. Am just beginning my plans and am willing to pay a few dollars to see the city as best and comfortably as I can in such a short period. Thanks! |

Been 7 times there. First of all, stay in Recoleta in either the Etoile hotel or Lois Suites Recoleta (both 5 stars). Recoleta is a nice place at night, it has lots of nice restaurants (Parrilla Recoleta!) and pubs. Get the basic city tour to see Presidential palace, cathedral, cabildo, Plaza de Mayo, etc. Also go and visit Puerto Madero, there are lots of nice restaurants and one of the best parrillas called "Sigue la vaca". If you are on a Sunday visit San Telmo meighbourhood and Plaza dorrego where there's an antique fair and Tango on the streets.
If by any chance you dont stay in Recoleta, go and stay in Puerto Madero in either the Hilton or Faena Hotel (both 5 stars) which are kind of trendy right now. Check all these hotels on the web and choose. I would probably chose to stay in Recoleta, there are more things to do there. |

Hi im argentinian then i think i can tell you properly...!!
The best luxe hotel is Alvear Palace Hotel, there is The Caesar Park and the Four Seasons. Those for me are the finest and are in a very nice area(Recoleta). Restaurants for argentinian beef for me the best is Happening (Puerto Madero area) and there is a lot of Good restaurants in Puerto Madero. The best place to shop is Patio Bullrich (oposite the Caesar Park and two blocks from Four Seasons)an Paseo Alcorta. Buenos Aires is not very safe really then try not showing that you're a tourist or not use expensive watches. Try to go to Patagonia or Bariloche.

I recommend you to visit all the touristic places in Buenos Aires, like Caminito, Recoleta, Tigre, i think there are a lot of places to see. i recommend you to stay your days in Las Naciones Hotel. Just left BA a week ago. It's a beautiful city with lots of nice houses to see and ofcourse lots to do. We loved San Telmo (on sunday, in the early afternoon they dance the Tango on the square, with great passion).
Suppose you get of the boat in Ushuaia(?) after you've visited Antartica? How long you have after that? You need to fly a lot or do you take busses? Patagonia is beautiful, deserted, empty. My husband claimes he ate the best Bife the Lomo in Bariloche beautiful place surrounded by mountains (skiing in winter) and lots and lots of lakes. |

You have to visit, Recoleta, Del libertador avenue (pricpipal avenue of palermo), downtown, Pueto Madero (dont go to "Siga La Vaca", there is popular because is inexpensive, it`d be better if you gone to the best places of Puerto Madero like "Rodizio"), Las Cañitas (restaurant zone), San Telmo and "English tower" (very important).
to shop, you can go to "Alto Palermo"(the best shopping), "Galerias Pacifico"(at the downtown) and "Abasto shopping"(its in a bad zone, and indoor is not spectacular but have a good external appearance).
to lodging, depend, how much money you want to spend...
Other places to visit of Argentina: Patagonia (Calafate, its the best place of Patagonia), other cities as Cordoba, Rosario, Mar del Plata, and naturals attractions of north Argentina (like iguazu waterfall).
