On business in Buenos Aires - Where to stay?

My business associates are staying downtown but I'd prefer a more interesting neighborhood - one with the Buenos Aires flavor I've heard to much about... any advice?

Hey there! http://www.buenosairesstay.com

We suggest two Barrios - Recoleta and Palermo

Some information for your convenience:

Palermo
Palermo apartments and Palermo Buenos Aires, the largest barrio in the north of Buenos Aires City (Capital Federal), are currently the travellers’ first choice. Quality apartment blocks and tree-lined residential streets of wider Palermo, Palermo Chico and Hollywood contrast wonderfully with the hip, young, and happening Palermo Soho and Las Cañitas. The neighbourhoods benefit from cute cafes, abundant boutiques, first-class cuisine, and a frenetic nightlife. With many divergent neighbourhoods, wonderful garden squares and the Bosques de Palermo, this barrio is truly a rare gem and Palermo apartments are highly recommended.

Palermo Viejo
Palermo Viejo (old Palermo) is the trendy, vibrant and artisan neighborhood of Palermo’s grand Buenos Aires neighborhoods. Independent designers, excellent culinary experts and happening bars explode onto the Soho and Hollywood scenes making Palermo Viejo the “must see and be seen in” tourist destination. Old Palermo divides into Palermo Soho and Palermo Hollywood; there is no end to fabulous shopping, eating, wandering, and partying until dawn. Palermo Viejo will rock your senses and lure you back for more.

Recoleta
Recoleta apartments range from super-budget apartment to sumptuous luxury apartments. Recoleta is the high-class “old money” barrio of Buenos Aires located between Palermo and El Centro. Ritzy high-rise apartment buildings, beautiful plazas, and fine museums make this one of Buenos Aires’ most sought after neighborhoods. Well-groomed public spaces and gourmet restaurants feature Recoleta as the barrio for luxury travelers.

You can find more substantive guides on our website.

Good luck!

We stayed at Concord Callao which is near to the Recoleta area. Very nice area to walk around and the cemetary is unlike anything else. Also close to bakeries, restaurants and the subway for getting to other places in. Apartment was very clean (serviced daily) and modern with cable tv.

Well , i would recommend you barrio norte neightborhood is a nice place to stay in buenos aires , if you mean with "flavor" the Tango thing , you should try La Boca or San Telmo , look up for those neighborhood since they have a lot of the city history as well as typical places to visit that tell a lot of buenos aires history , San Telmo is well known for his Tango shows and , as well as La Boca , Barrio Norte and Recoleta are more cosmopolitic zones in the city , but also with good connections with the cities past and culture.

San Telmo is what you heard is what i am thinking. Very unique neighborhood, with a lot of antiques stores, bars, night life, busy weekends, and you are close to downtown, you can use the subway to go wherever you want or the "Colectivo 22" ( bus) you can take there and in 5 minutes you pass for the "Casa Rosada" (pink house)and you are in "Retiro" (BA train and long distance buses terminal)

This past May & June I spent some time at the Golden Tulip Savoy at 181 Callao, and found it very comfortable. It's quite close to the National Congress, within walking distance from some fun restaurants, and only minutes by (very inexpensive) taxi from shopping, dining, clubs, etc. The staff was very helpful, the rooms were modern and stylish, and the only real problem was that the in-house restaurant was only so-so.
