Half of Argentina is Buenos Aires, so you'll end up there of course. Definitely go to Iguazu Falls, it's beautiful, nothing like it. While there you can dip into Paraguay and Brazil just to say you visited. You might as well take the ferry over Uruguay too.
Catch some tango dancing, they invented it.
The Malbec wine of Medoza is cheap and fantastic. Drink it everyday. They drink Mate a lot, nothing special.
Patagonia would be nice, but I didn't go there, I live in Colorado anyway so I don't think I'd be impressed.
I wanted to go to Antarctica on a cruise, but I was too late. March should be good for that. Not many people have been there.
I lived there 6 months, but I was working, not all tourism. I liked it, but it's not Europe. |

i was born in mendoza, and i'll be there those two weeks too!
ok, all tourist like to see the wine vineyards.
kahuak aventura
This is a beautiful spot in the middle of the mountains where you can enjoy adventure activities such as Trekking and Horse Back Riding.
Puente inca
(inca's bridge)
water rafting
all the parks and plaza's are very beautiful
museo historico general san martin
Bordered by the lovely Alameda walkway, this museum honors Argentina’s revered hero, General San Martin.
(those are just a few things)
oh a few tips, night life is normal there
dinner is around 10ish -12ish
no one eats earlier then 10, so dont expect resturants to serve you
lunch is between 1-3
and after 3 all stores close for 2 to 3 hours, because its called "nap time"
lol
i know, its ridiculous, but thats how it is
oh and things open kinda early |

the places you are leaning towards are great to visit. in BA there are tons of things to do, museums, fairs, architecture, the cemetery where Eva Peron is buried, San Telmo browsing antiques and bars, La Boca for Tango dancing, etc. El Tigre is cute for a Sunday or Saturday afternoon. it is on the river and there are boat tours and a lot of handmade ya-ya to look at/buy. a lot of people that work for the airlines stay at the Sheraton. i hear it is nice and it is in the heart of the city.
Iguazu is great for a 2-3 day trip. if you plan on going , first make sure there has been rain. the falls are fed from rain. so, the more rain the bigger the falls. there has been a drought in the Pampas this summer, but i am not sure about the Iguazu area. also, if you plan on seeing the Brazilian side of the falls you will need a Visa to enter Brazil and special shots ( yellow fever). we stayed at La Esturion. the hotel was gross, but the cottages were large and clean with a kitchen, living area, bedroom and porch for the same money as a hotel room. you are only across the street from the hotel and your included breakfast. cabs are easy to get and cheap and there are different types of tours to choose from. definitely get one that includes the boat ride under the falls EXCELLENT.
Mendozo is beautiful and clean. enjoy the wineries!!
if you want anywhere else i also suggest Calafate, where you can gaze upon the glaciers,(good for 2 days) and the most southern city in the world,Ushuia. a very quaint city with great sweater prices and beautiful mountains . there is also a nice boat ride and a train ride through the city (good for 2-3 days).
when it comes to cheap airfares, of course you have your usual google searches, and expedia. do you know anyone that works at an airline that comes here (American, Aerolines Argentinas,LAN,Delta(through Atlanta),Continetal (through Texas). if you do give them a call. you could fly coach for about 300-400.00 RT
have fun |

BA is so big, with so many things to do, sometimes you don't know where to start. So, here are the 5 best places to go in Buenos Aires:
#1 Plaza de Mayo:
Became the most important political scenario of Buenos Aires since the Argentine Independence in 1810. People with different political ideologies gather here in massive political demonstrations like those organized by Evita Peron or by the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo. The Plaza de Mayo also houses important city majors landmarks such as the Casa Rosada Presidential House, the Cabildo o Government House during the colonialismperiod; the Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires, among other magnificent buildings. Location: between HipĂłlito Yrigoyen 300, Rivadavia 300, Balcarce and BolĂvar streets.
#2 Recoleta:
A classy residential and commercial district replete with French-style buildings and art nouveau constructions, Recoleta is one of the most expensive and elegant neighborhoods of Buenos Aires and one of the most popular for tourists. Its central Plaza Francia is surrounded by coffee shops, restaurants and other hot tourist spots like the Del Pilar Church, the Palaise de Glace or the University of Buenos Aires Law Faculty. Every weekend, exciting cultural activities and colorful crafts markets take place. And for the thick-walleted, you can enjoy exclusive high-end shopping from global brand names.
#3 The Congress:
The magnificent gray stone Palacio del Congreso emanates an imposing and awe-inspiring presence in this neighborhood which the locals commonly refer to as “Congreso.” It is a middle-class area with strong commercial activity that gives you a taste of the real Buenos Aires. The Plaza Congreso decorated with several monuments and sculptures, is the second most important political venue for Argentines. Many demonstrations either begin or end at the Congreso because it is connected to Plaza de Mayo via ten block of Avenida de Mayo.
#4 Belgrano:
A residential neighborhood in the north of Buenos Aires, Belgrano offers both a peaceful oasis and commercial energy. The upper middle-class enjoys living among the quiet leafy inner streets as well as shopping along the busy Avenida Cabildo lined with shops, boutiques, and corner cafes.
#5 Tigre:
Located just 17.5 miles (28 Km) north of Buenos Aires city, this beautiful and colorful town lies on the shore of the Parana Delta. Tigre’s various outdoor activities can vary from taking a tour through the islands of the Delta; walking around the charming town, screaming your lungs out at the Parque de la Costa amusement park, or gambling away at the Casino. To get to Tigre is very simple taking the line Mitre of Buenos Aires Railways and after 40 minutes travel between Buenos Aires northern neighborhoods. |

Argentina is BEAUTIFUL! Any of the places that the other people have recommeded to you are great, you cannot go wrong. I live in the states but was born there and I promise you a wonderful time. Everyone is full of life and the food anywhere you go will be the best. I would try to fly via LAN airlines for sure. If you've never been there you will have the time of your life. In the capital go to Molier nightcliub or El Bosque (in the city of Qulimes 20 from the capital) and you will have a wonderful night. I just returned and have planned to return to move there. Also if you care to shop hit Avenida Florida and you will find anything you desire. Have a wonderful time! |

Buenos Aires and Around (2-4 weeks)
Fly into Buenos Aires. There is enough to see and do in Buenos Aires alone to fill two weeks or more. Using Buenos Aires as your "base camp", you can explore the city, and also go for 3-4 days to the following:
* See the Iguazu Falls (Argentinean and Brazilian side).
* Go to the beach at Mar del Plata.
* Take the ferry to Colonia del Sacramento (Uruguay).
