There are many "you should", depends of your age, thing you like, etc
For me one thing you have to do is go with a big group of friends to the "Parque de la cerveceria Quilmes" what is quilmes, 12 miles south of downtown BA. There you can eat and drink a lot of the best draft beer, after that you can go to a dance club in Quilmes.
You can arrange for spend a day or one weekend in an Estancia , tipical country house-farm in coutry side BA you will enjoy the argentinian traditions and eating a Asado (Argentinian bbq) and riding horses.
Go to www.estanciasantaelena.com and look if you like that (the owner is a friend of mine)
If you are more cultural type of person there are many museums and the tipical visit to "Plaza de Mayo" where you can visit the Cabildo(House of representatives in the freedom declaration time 1810) the "Casa Rosada" ( pink House, like the white house but pink) and the Main Church .
The Opera House Teatro Colon is unique, beatiful !
If you prefer the underground culture there are a lot of places, you can star going to San Telmo or La Recoleta to bars and connecting with thing attract you.
I can no tell you about if i like Argentinian people cause i have a conflict of interest!! lol |

EAT MEAT. Fillet of beef--splurge because dinner is 25 to 30 % ($5-6) if what it would cost at home and regardless of what any rancher anywhere says, Argentina has the best beef in the world. |

Buenos Aires Guide

Hey there!
I am from http://www.buenosairesstay.com
Plan - plan your trip very carefully because Buenos Aires is a wonderful city and there is so much to do! Get yourself out first day on a reasonable walking tour where you take in the wonderful architecture of Buenos Aires, learn about the city, understand the modes of transport and get a good idea of the geography. There are a couple of good tour providers, I would suggest you only contact those who are licensed to provide tours and highly recommend Estela Alasia estelaba2002@yahoo.com.ar try both her walking city tour and her historical guide to Recoleta Cemetery – buy her a tea after and she will spill the beans and her vast knowledge - I am sure.
Take a look at our guides http://buenosairesstay.com/buenos_aires.htm
We are not the best writers, but our website is packed with honest information. Take a look. We tell it like it is!
Best

The things you are *supposed* to do are go to see Evita's tomb in Recoleta Cemetery, see the Pink House, visit El Caminito in La Boca, take your picture at the Obelisk, go to the street fair in San Telmo on Sunday, etc... but those things are all boring.
I would definitely eat at an asado, go out to a crazy Argentino night club like Niceto Club or Amerika and meet the locals while drunk, walk down Florida street during the day and watch the street performers doing tango and do some people watching and shopping for yourself. Most of all, meet and chat with the locals, in general, portenos are very nice and friendly. Having a local friend can make your trip much more fun! |
