Weekend they usually have an "asado" or barbecue where they slow cook all kinds of beef (rib cut, sirloin, intestine, sweetbreads, blood sausage, etc) where they guys will hang out and drink red wine and beer around the fire. This is an all-day thing. Argentina makes some great red wine--Malbec being the most well-known variety. Fernet mixed with coke is also common.
Soccer is big (like most places in the world), so you can usually find Argentinians drinking beer/coke watching a game.
On weekend the night clubs don't get started until late. WAY late--I've been to clubs that are empty at 2 a.m. and are full by 3. In the afternoons, you'll find people outdoors drinking mate'--a type of green tea drank from a gourd.
There's a lot more--it's a big country. Depends on what you're into--fishing, world-class skiing, etc....
Hope this helps. |

i'm Argentine well here is what my family and i do everytime we go or atleast where we mostly tend to visit before we come back to the u.s.
1. Buenos Aires: completely cosmopolitan capital city. Beautiful architecture. It feels like youre walking down Paris or Madrid. We visit many neighborhoods like Palermo SoHo (for excellent shopping and great food), and San Telmo (for antique shopping). We also go visit the Casa Rosada, the Argentinian equivalent of the White House (it's pink). The nightlife is great, and the cafés are awesome. There are alot of little plazas everywhere. We also go to La Recolecta as well, where there are nice restaurants and nice shops.
2. Bariloche: it's about a 2 hour plane ride from Buenos Aires in Patagonia we went there for xmas last time we visited. They have beautiful lake Nahuel Huapi and snow-covered mountains. You can ski, snowboard and all that. You can go on boats and do some fly fishing. There's a great nightlife, as well as great restaurants. There are canopy tours, horseback rides, everything. It's really awesome so much fun.LOVED IT!
3. Punta del Este: Super famous beach spot. The nightlife is excellent lots of clubs many young people.
those are some of the most famouse tourist places were argentines go on vacations or throughout the year long but for regular fun we usualy go watch soccer (futbol) matches on the weekends or just get together and cook a huge BBQ (asado). |
