Well, Argentina is a wonderful country with many friendly people. You can visit almost every city but you must stay out of the ghettos. Every country has them and they are really dangerous because the people are willing to rob tourists and I have seen it happen on many occacassions.
Other than that, you are fine and no there are not any deadly bugs. Diviértase en Argentina

The ghetto up near the northern airport in Buenos Aires is pretty dangerous. Especially for non-Argentinians.

When in Buenos Aires, outsiders should not venture into the marginal areas, such as "villas".
Also, places up north in the country - i.e. the Mesopotamia - should also be avoided, for there is a large risk of getting infected or stung by deadly insects. (If you want to dive into the latter bring up the "Mal de Chagas" disease.)
