The average salary in BA is porbably about 1,500 pesos a month. There is a very BIG middle class. The idea that everyone is rich or poor is a fantasy that most people who have never been to Argentina or South America end to believe. There are a lot of poor, that much is true.

A 4 Star you can get for $80-$125 per night

A 5 Star in BA will be about $200-$300+, mostly international chains at international prices

Two thousand pesos is a lot for shopping, but only if you buy local goods, not imports, they are more expensive in Argentina than the US or Europe.

QRT
The average month salary would be between 1500 and 2000 pesos.

2000 pesos is not a lot of money to buy in most of Buenos Aires's shopping malls, but yes with that amount you will be able to buy 3 jeans, 2 t-shirts, 1 pair of shoes. (of course you are not buying Gucci, Prada, Armani or anything like that, just Argentinians brand marks)

4 / 5 star hotels has international rates and you will pay at least US$ 130 for a night in a 4* hotel.

I'm Argentinian and I can assure you that people are magicians here! We live with very low salaries. A teacher's salary is $ 1,200 per month. The cost of living is lower than in Europe but it's not easy to survive! A good pair of jeans costs $100 and to hire a flat with two bedrooms $600. 4 or 5 stars Hotels costs $750 or more per night.

Ive searched on the internet and the average month salary here in Argentina is $ 1.051 (pesos). Bearing in mind that a family of four needs almost $1000 to survive, its not that much.

And $2050 is a lot but really a lot of money to shop here... u can buy a levis jean for 30 or 40 dollars.

The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. Other online resources are salary.com and payscale. Your salary will also depend on your educational qualification and how you handle your career. many Argentines can survive on less than 1000 USD per month. You are either very wealthy or very poor. The middle class is not large. As for the hotels, you can try checking websites.
Finally, a thousand pesos converted into USD would be a bit more than 300 dollars.
