To answer your question, right now they are 5 hours ahead of us. Remember that Argentina, unlike CA, does not do Daylight Savings Time. Therefore, when we "Spring Forward" they are then going to be 4 hours ahead of CA; when we "Fall Back" they are 5 hours ahead.
