What should I do in Buenos Aires?

I'm taking a trip to Buenos Aires 12/29 and am cruising to Valparaiso, Chile, spending about a week in both places.

What do you guys recommend I do/see while there?

Do you have any tips on preparation for visiting?

1. see a soccer game
2. eat the food of course(try steak, fish, empanadas, arfajores, and definately tryy to find a "Freddo's icecream place" best icecream-i recomend Dulce de leche granisado w/ lemon icecream
3. see the "casa rosada"(pink house) pretty sure this is in buenos aires
4. shopping(the exchange rate is awesome)
5.Palermo Viejo(restaurants, and nightclubs) also very pretty
6. If your into museums-Museo Evita, Museo del bella artes
7. Recoleta(pretty architecture)
8.PueRto Madero(good restaurants)
9.TEatro Colon( I think thats how you spell it)-amazing and beautiful architecture-they have plays here and its definately a must see

If you ever go to Argentina again go to Bariloche(beautiful lake, during the winter nice for skiing, during the summer verry beautiful and everything is green)--if you go here a verry nice place to stay at is the "llau llau" ( i think thats how you spell it)

also Iguazul Falls is seriously spectacular(My favorite place in Argentina that i've seen)

Mendoza is really nice(especially if you like wine)

Rosario(It's a bit like Buenos Aires) but they have alot of nice shopping i liked it(el centro)

Have Fun! :)

In Buenos Aires, you have to simply have to experience the local culture. Do not eat any food that you could eat in America, it has to be from there, or you will seriously miss out. Make sure you visit the shopping districts because they have amazing things for really cheap if you look right.

If you have a week in BA you will have a good amount of time to taste the flavor of our city. I suggest taking some free walking tours, maybe a pub crawl if you are a drinker (www.buenosairespubcrawl.com) and just explore each barrio - neighborhood. Important barrios are Palermo, Recoleta, San Telmo, Las Cañitas and the Downtown. Here are a few good sites to help orient you!
http://www.buenosairesstay.com/centro-buenos-aires-apartments-for-rent.htm - rents flats but has the best info on each barrio including restaurants, tourist activities and nightlife
http://www.buenosaires.gov.ar/agenda/ - great government site with an agenda and tours available
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g312741-s204/Buenos-Aires:Argentina:Neighborhoods.html - good tripadvirsor info on each barrio and things to do
