When is the cheapest and best time to travel to Argentina?

I am planning a trip to Buenos Aires in December of 2007. I plan to go toward the end of December into the early part of January. I've been searching for ticket prices but they are expensive! I was wondering if anyone knows of any good sites or dates to travel. Should I wait till it gets closer to December or should I keep my search going??

From where are you travelling? High season is December-February (summertime) and also July-August (ski season!) Depending where you catch the plane it could be quite expensive. Summertime is great in Argentina although it can be sticky and hot in Buenos Aires but it's great for Patagonia. I would do a big search in web sites like travelocity, expedia, orbitz and as a last instance check LanChile's web site as well as American Airlines, they sometimes have great offers.
I would definetly recommend end of december, early january but please, dont just stay in Buenos Aires, go to Patagonia, especially Bariloche and Villa la Angostura and sail the lake Nahuel Huapi. The scenary is breathtaking.

the best time to travel is september and april / june cause is low season
never travel on july january or february cause is the highest season of all :)
you can find cheap tickets in www.despegar.com

You should either come in November or March. December, January and February is high season.

December though February is high season here, so don't expect to find a cheap ticket. www.exitotravel.com might have some good deals though - check them out.

It is summertime then, so kids are out of school and it will be peak travel time. All resorts and hotels outside Buenos Aires will be busy. Buenos Aires will still be expensive since that time is high season. I say April until early June. Avoid the mountains in mid June as it also gets busy and expensive since winter attracts skiers to the Andes. As far as airfare goes ticket prices have gone up drasticly to Argentina in the last 2-3 years. But part of it is due to fuel surcharge. This has already happened to most of the world especially to Europe and Asia from the US, but Argentina has just caught up.

yes anytime between December 20th - February 28th is quite expensive.

The best time would be September / October in spring!

If you want to visit the Patagonia I suggest July ;) it´s full of snow and it´s beautiful! It´s very nice during spring too! You`ll love it!

Talk to my staff at www.bastay.com and www.buenosairesstay.com for free impartial advice.

November is the start of the high season that now seems to go all the way through to March. Of course any period that coincides with school holidays will be more expensive and expect to pay premium rates at Christmas.

I would go ahead and book them soon, as your dates get closer the rates are only going to go up. I went to BA last New Years and was able to save a bundle by staying in a rental apartment. Found it thru http://www.holiday-velvet.com
Site was user friendly and had many apartments for all types of travelers. The city and people are beautiful - desfruta!
