Don't. That's just one person's opinion, which you cannot change, so what's the point of responding. |
|

Kojak

FIRST This person has made up their mind and there is nothing you can say that will change their mind. Do not waste your time debating the point or trying to change their perception
SECOND With his myopic prejudice you have lost nothing by not being able to talk with him.
America has not always treated the Philippines properly. Even today a lot of foreigners forget they are guests in this country and act badly. But to blame ALL American for the sins of the past or the sins of others is grossly unfair.
Not all Filipinos are alike just as all Americans are not alike. If you must judge and hate; do it individually. Base your anger on the specific actions of a specific person.
You would scream in anger if some ignoramus said they hated all Filipinos because....... Why does this person think it is proper to hate people he never met. I feel sorry for him. He is missing so much in life because of his prejudice and anger |

just consider it... everybody has their own opinions towards something, like this issue... |

Oh, simply ignore her/him. You cannot please everybody. As if you became part of the past. I feel sorry for her/him. Just be yourself and do what you think is the best for you and your friends here.
Have a nice day. |

Read Philippine History, particularly 20th-century Philippine history, and you'll know what the chatter was talking about. I suggest you read Abinales and Amoroso's "State and Society in the Philippines." The authors, by the way, have degrees from Cornell University. |

Well, the best thing is to leave it alone. Filipinos are a very difficult lot. You'll have a hard time explaining to them or convincing them specially if they have made up their minds on something. They are tenacious. Some are misguided and others think they are patriotic by being indifferent to Americans. Don't let it bother you. There are more Filipinos who are friendly to Americans. |

There are some Filipinos who hate the United States and some Filipinos who like the United States. Ignore the guy and better deal with it. |

Welcome to democracy!
Just ignore. A lot of Filipinos still like to talk to Americans (I would, to brush up my English). |

If you want to continue this contact, you should read up about the 'good things' the Americans did for the Philippines.
If some things were not so good, don't deny that they ever existed.
You may be able to win your Filipino renegade over. |

not all the filipinos think like that, only the narrow-minded ones..so just ignore, ignore, ignore! |

I wouldn't respond. Just leave it. |

Sometimes people say things because they are either prejudiced or misinformed. I think a good comeback from you could have been this....."I am sorry if you are thinking this about Americans. We, too, have our ideas about what causes certain things to happen in other countries. But it is unfair to blame an entire nation and its people for the economic situation of another country. I am proud to be an American, just as I think you are proud to be Filipino." |

I'm sorry to hear that... I myself am guilty for having such an attitude towards Americans.. Kojak's gotta point though..
I've chatted with some Americans myself and while I found a fair deal of them to be nice and friendly there were others that were... well.. let's just say that the Religion and Spirituality category here could show you what I mean.
Tell you what, prove to that person that their reasons for hating Americans is biased by showing to them the good side of your nationality. |

Don't. Just ignore it.
You will find many anti-American attitudes in the world.
It's not your problem, as Joe Public. |

Sadly, there are some people who are very ethnocentric and very discriminating. I want to say "Sorry" in behalf of our country. I think you should just ignore comments like that.
I understand what you must have felt, despite being Filipino, my Chinese origins have also garnered many insulting remarks from different people I've met. I just tend to ignore those remarks because responding to them wouldn't lead to anything. |

Don't sweat it. He/she just probably have some issues.
It is like some Americans do not like Filipinos as well. Get it? So it isn't a big deal. =) |

Really? Maybe they are on an anti-american policy (only for their self). Or else, they experience something bad about/with americans. If i were you, just ignore and leave them. Find someone who deserves your attention. I'll bet, you will find someone nice online...:) |

in behalf of her, and as a filipina, i would like to apologize from what she said. im not to bringing down our country, because somewhat she has a little point to say that. i guess her personality has a big part on this issue, and i think as humans we should respect each other's places. besides let's just focus on what will happen in the future and not blaming people from the things that happened.
