You may be from Hawaii but I guess your roots are from the Philippines. I enjoy being a Filipino as much as I enjoy living in the country. I have never thought of migrating, even when I was young. First, the thought of leaving my parents and everything familiar frightened me. Second, I didn't want to uproot myself and start a new life in some strange land. And thirdly, a life abroad did not appeal to me. |

i love being a filipina.
my question to you is: how come there are so many filipinos from hawaii who deny being filipinos? i've met so many here in the US and it's a shame that they don't acknowledge where they're from. |

Philippines/Filipinos as they say is really worth dying for. Mostly filipinos who migrated to other countries for some reasons wants still to spend their remaining years of their lives here in the Phils. |

Yes, I very much enjoy being a Filipina. And I'm very proud of my roots. I am proud of it because it is great to be associated with a race known for being caring and helpful to others. Even though the Philippines is a poor country, you will just love how Filipinos manage to laugh and be carefree about even some of the most difficult things and situations. You can never find a group of people as light-hearted as Filipinos anywhere else! :) |

Are you trying to say:
ENJOYING BEING A FILIPINO?
Yes I am and I'm proud of it, but right now I'm not part of the Philippines because I'm outside of our country, working. |

are you kidding? I'm so proud to be a Filipino! Although I study in Singapore, I haven't forgotten the Philippines. It's a great country with the coolest tourist spots. And although the Philippines is a kind of dangerous country,(all the bloodshed) I still love it. I wish the chaos would stop though. If you're opinion is the opposite, that's ok with me as long as you keep it to yourself. I'm so proud to be Filipino! And if anyone's wondering, I can speak Tagalog.. |

Yes, i love being filipino.. but still it would be nice not to be a developing or third world country. Like to have a good economy, nice standard of living and average filipino people could go and travel to places without worrying about a visa and other stuff and not just the rich and elite few.. :o) |

It has its ups and Downs. Frankly, i do wonder what it would be like being born in a foreign land, probably, life would be much easier. Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of my roots. Sometimes all the Politics and economic problems just gets into you. |

Yeah I'm Eurasian and I love having two cultures. Though both have their pro's and cons. I think proud is not the right word. I especially hate the term "Filipino pride" (or any other country's pride for that matter) 'cause it just sounds like you think you're better than everybody else in the world. Pinoy's aren't better than anyone and "white" people aren't better than Filipino's either. Unfortunately as "proud" as Filipino's are, they seem to still think more highly of Americans. People are people and everybody has strengths and shortcomings.
So yeah I love experiencing and having the best AND the worst of both worlds, 'cause that way you can balance yourself better in life and learn from -and teach others- as well as yourself about other cultures. The more ignorance will lessen, hopefully more respect will be gained. |
