A quote says "Good girls never make history." Why is that so? What do you think?

It was originally meant that the good girls were seen not heard. I think it goes along that line because the women remembered in history weren't considered good girls of their time they were remembered in history for their vocal fight for women's rights, and much more. I believe that it refers to that.

Its not true. Look at Joan of Arc, Florence Nightingale and Mother Theresa. They will never be forgotten. 100 years from now, who will remember the Paris Hiltons and Jessica Simpsons of society?

Monroe was not much of a source, she pretty much needed help getting through a door.

good girls are the ones who conformed with society. a girl being proper all the time and stays at home with her husband.

those who made history are the ones who ran against the grain.
every single woman who made history changed their game.

think of all of them who are in history books. none of them showed the weakness that women supposedly should have.

Let me rephrase that Ms. A, I think it should be "good girls rarely make history".

Good girls rarely go out of their way and enjoy life as it truly is. They never took the risk to find out how it is to break the rules. That does'nt mean either that all risk-takers are bad girls. What I'm saying was, good girls tend to play it safe while the less than good ones played it fully well.

That quote should be changed to not many girls have made history, not never. Think about it if Pailin wins she will make history. There are many women out there who have made history, this quote is total BS.

It's only in Showbiz Life. If you are a good girl cannot make gossip from you then you are boring but if you are like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and etc.. even if what you did was long time ago people never ever forget that. Gossip is all about in Showbiz that makes a history and make it refresh every now and then repeat again and again. That makes them a History.

I would think it has something to do with girls having backbone enough to stand up to people that try to hold them back. In order to have backbone to do so, you generally have to have a bit of an attitude and hence lose the whole "good girl" profile....lol

Maybe in this quote, "good girls" are those who always do what they're told, when they're told. They follow all the rules, and never do things that are not of the norm.

People who make history are those who made a difference. They are the ones who stepped up and dared to be different, despite being ostracized at times.

I think it should be gender-indifferent. Virtually NO ONE IN ALL OF HISTORY "made" history by not bucking the system. Unfortunately, it can be good OR bad...
