oh gosh girl your not wierd.. im persian and i used to like it.. i used to be into all this japanese stuff.. ha.. but ya.. its normal its just like the white people who try and act black or the people who want everything in their house to be frmo france.. they arent french..!! so ya.. its ok just be yourself..your friends should like you no matter what you like.

I'm just like you:black and overly interested in Asian stuff. My family are okay with me being interested in Japan and eveything related to the country, but they sometimes discourage my dream of living there and learning the language(or maybe marrying from there-they're not racist, just wary). Look, your skin colour shouldn't stop you from liking this music genre or whatever. You are an individual, not an expected stereotype of the rap-loving, pro-black woman. Do as you please,for my sake!

of course its not wierd! we're all different. i personally love japanese stuff and anime too (my friends think im wierd but i dont care) Isnt being black and loving rap just a stereotype? also i think its great that you are interested in asian stuff, so dont believe anyone that says you are wierd for not liking the same things as them and be proud about who YOU are, not what THEY say you are.

I do not think you are weird for liking what you like-that is what makes you who you are and if your friends can't accept that -then they are not good friends-just because your black does not mean you have to listen to rap music-do your asian friends listen to rap music? If so -do you make fun of them for it? probably not-just be yourself and enjoy whatever it is that makes you happy.

honey there is nothing wrong with you sweetie....it's also like asian people liking western things like disco etc etc....a appreciation and exchange of cultures had and is currently taking place....eg why do you thing we have kebabs and curries shushi all have their roots in asian culture and now is even is show like sex in the city etc accepted and well liked.

First off, your friends are pretty stupid. Alot of the pioneers of rock were black. Actually alot of people who know the history of rock would say that black people invented it. It came out of gospel, jazz, etc. which were pretty much invented by black people. The color of your skin shouldn't determine what you like. I am just like you. I like watching Japanese and Korean dramas. I listen to Japenese and British rock (American rock right now sounds crappy), and I don't dress like a gangster. Your friends are heavily influenced by media. Don't pay attention to them, get some new friends who will accept you for who you are. That's that.

I think you're doing a great job exploring new cultures!!! You should be proud because I, as a African-American teenager living in a pure African-American neighborhood, have been told by so many other African-American people and even white people that the only race black people know about is their own, and we don't even know that too well.
I can sympathize with you because in freshman year of high school, I loved Inuyasha and that allowed me to learn about Japanese culture. This summer, I even went to Japan and can even speak Japanese now! Sure, when I came back, my grandmother said I was the first black chinese person (can't tell the difference between asian cultures) she has ever seen.
Don't worry about it. You'll be the more educated one!!! :)

Asians and whites love rap are they all weird.Your friends are living in a very small world. If you look around we have Asian made ,cars, cameras. video games and the list goes on.If I buy a Japanese car or a Korean T.V. am I weird too.

it is not at all weird... todays generation/century is all about learning and discovering others cultures. unlike other people you are someone who doesn't stick to the stereotypes by establishing your own identity by expressing your interests. alot more people should be more like you

Oh come on, of course it's not strange to like things from different cultures than you own. Just be glad you have something you're interested in, and your friends sound like douche bags to me. If you think you're the only black person that likes Asian culture you're severely mistaken. And just one big example would be GZA's Liquid Swords album, and ah, hmmm, maybe Wu-Tang?

I guess some people don't understand that everyone is different with different tastes.I'm Black and I like some things of the Japanese culture(Anime etc), I am even studying Nihongo. Who cares if your black.. that's not weird (well, personally i thing anime is weird altogether, but this isn't about me.) I mean, i know that a bunch of white people watch that stuff and they're not asian, so whatever. And, hey, i can't blame you for not liking rap, because i dont either. rock is happy! lol

It's not weird to be yourself. :) btw i am a japan fanatic too. I love to do japanese dancing called "parapara", it's really fun to do. there are other types called techpara , and trapara that are really fun too, but you kinda have to let some of the music grow on you.
