i got only 2 this weekend, from bintang guy i guess. i got total 8 violations from him alone so far. yes that's 80 points

omg, i got 1 more violation from YA singapore this morning on answer related to bintang guy (i just mentioned his name, no insult, and get violation). total accumulated point so far, 90 points

It takes two to tango.

I was shocked the first time I received a violation. I gone back to that 'offending' question to do some soul searching. And I want to share with you some of the lessons that I have learned from that painful episode.

First, always respect the asker no matter how dumb the question was. If the asker thinks or perceived you have questioned his intelligence with your answer, then you are in big trouble. No one likes to be seen stupid.

Secondly, always be courteous with your answer. Don't get carried away with your remarks. Make sure you don't sound too offensive or sarcastic. Avoid any remarks on taboo subjects if possible.

Lastly refrain to attempt any question just for the sake of scoring 2 points, when you are totally clueless to it. The asker can easily detect it, and he may feel offended because you are wasting his time.
So always have good intentions when answering.

Its ok. Lets look at this matter from another point of view, once u are a famous singer/actor, u will have tons of fans and a few devoted critiques.

somebody reported me too and my points were deducted. Vaguely i think i lost some 200points once and few more after that..It is a shame as we are suppose to give frank answers.. Why post a question if u just want to hear what u want to hear right... Life is a mixture of good and bad. There is no such thing as all good all the time..Its getting really boring..
edit: and who is so free giving thumbs down to all the good answers in here..

Yeah..i totally agree with you 100%...me too had a lot of violation notice lately, getting points deducted and my 'top contributor' also been scrap off.. and most of the notice were from Yahoo! Singapore..(no offense )..i really wonder who is that 'wonderful' person....in my fan section..i had 4 trolls..i know that they are up to someting and i just dont know how to remove them from my network!! I'm getting almost fed up seeing all honest answer i gave being deleted or whatsoever..and nowadays i didnt answer that much..keeping low as i can.....i feel for your anger Sarah, but we just cant do nothing unless Yahoo! answer came up with a plan to track off this losers...

It must be one of those racists in 'Malaysia' section. I got more than yours PLUS threats to behead me (yeah right). You might notice that I have not posted much these days and only post when I feel like its a good question that I should answer in 'Malaysia'.

You MUST react and send a violation notice report/plea to Yahoo so that they can restore your points. That's what I do and that's how I maintain my points.

Anyway these bastards won't be doing this for long. Just wait for a few days, maybe you might want to take a break and then you'll have fun answering again. Its no big deal.

Then again, respectfully, should I also remind you that chatting on Answers is also a violation of TOS? In fact, for almost every users who post on 'Malaysia' section, they are actually using this like some kind of chat-forum, which other users deserve their rights to report you for chatting too, no matter how polite your words could be. So... perhaps, this may be another point to ponder (for you and as well as others)...

Ditto here. I got violation notice but not sure whether points were deducted or not as I did not really care about the points that much. I just genuinely want to help people and also protect my country and race from being insulted or belittled. Of course I also like to put 2cents worth of my mind. I can even tell you guys the questions that got me into trouble. It was the one where I asked "Does anyone else think Dave Star is very annoying?" and subsequently "Has Dave Star gone bonkers?". Both questions were deleted by Yahoo! and that's why it is not found here now. But I don't care now because I just want to hear what other people thinks. So, never mind dear. Just take care.
