Hi, Malacca is a nice 4 hours drive away .. with great food and people. Nostalgic shopping at jonker street should bring back some fond childhood memories. Don't miss the very affordable street food, desert and Peranakan dishes.
If relaxation is key, Redang is recommended.
Cheers ... |

Pagarang Island in Malaysia is good for seafood, specialty baby lobster baked with butter or simply steam them with spring onion. Shopping is best at Kualar Lumpur. |

Why not trying Damai Resort at Kuching? It's very different from other beach resort. And within 15mins walking distance, there's the famous Culture Village. And also there's the famous Semenggoh Orang Utan Centre, where you can have closet contact with orang utan.
If you happen to go to Kuching, don't forget to taste the famous kolo mee, Rei Cha (the famouse hakka dishes) and their 3 layers tea (i heard now they have improved it to 5 layers)!!!! |

If you are going from Singapore, probably you can try Pulau Tioman, Pulau Tinggi, Pulau Besar. It's nearer and cheaper. |

Try Kukup. Near enough. Shop for sea products and eat seafood. You can stay in chalets on stilts over the mangrove swamp. Quite pleasant. |

I would also recommend Penang. One stop for all. Great ambience, food and shopping. You name it, it has it. Definitely worth visiting. You should also try Desaru. Great place to chill out but you won't get to shop till you drop. Must try the seafood there. GREAT! |

Have a go at Tioman and Tinggi as suggested. island resorts where you laze on the beach and fish. Towns in Malaysia, try Kuantan, Ipoh and Malacca. I do enjoy the drive to these places and just staying and eating locally. Shopping wise, local produces are what is good to buy. Shopping centres may not be like JB or KL style. |

The best island in Malaysia or even the world is definitely Pulau Sipadan, Semporna, Sabah. Try travel around Sabah, no big malls, but definitely a nice experience guaranteed ;) |

hey, thanks for having a interest in Malaysia,
firstly, are you local?
if you are, whereabouts are you at?
if you dont inform us where in Malaysia are you or you gonna be, how to sugest to you where to go for a short trip?
right?
Malaysia have as lot of island resort, no matter on the east or west coast of the peninsular or in east Malaysia.
What i suggest is maybe pop into one of the more historical towns, these towns will provide you with eco-tourism, heritage, scenic views and best of all great food. These places tend to have cheaper rates compared to more established tourism towns like Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru.
Try places like Melacca, Taiping, Lumut/Sitiawan, Camerons and so on.... |

i'm living in penang now and for all i know the foreigners who have visited here always make it a point to come return..hehe
penang is well known for its delicious hawker food..and it is very very cheap..i have been studying overseas and as far as i can say that malaysian foods are indeed one the world's cheapest..
and when i return from overseas i'm always grateful to see that i'm living here..the clothes are also cheaper than most of the places abroad that i've seen..so yeah whenever i come home for summer break i always shop till i drop!!moreover, in malaysia we have this huge MEGA SALE where u can experince very good discounts on the clothes and accessories..
and penang is an island with many great tourist spots!!
selamat datang ke malaysia(welcome to malaysia)!! |
