I went to Penang a few years ago for classic 2 week holiday and found the quality of the hotels and service very good. Penang is renowned for its food and mainlanders are known for travelling to Penang just for dinner. You have the Komtar tower there and some good shopping too. KL airport is massive so even lots of stuff to see whilst waiting for your connection! |

please tell Chinrasu that it is 'Durian'
it does pong a bit, hold your nose when eating.
don't eat too much, like till you are full 1st time you eat, you will get stomach ache.
I love it
cannot get it in UK :( tried it tinned, is not the same, must be fresh
if you somewhere like that then try Pineapple, you won't believe the difference from stuff you get at home |

At KL you can go to petronas twin tower(dont forget to reach there early in the morning by 430 am or so to get the ticket). Also you have KL tower another marvellous building.
You can also visit saravak island if you like woods. |

Kuala Lumpur was good just to see city life- was the first city I had been in that the girls wore veils especially since I didn't realize before going that it is a mostly Muslim country. The Cameron Highlands were beautiful for the nature and we spend a few days there checking out the "jungle" and tea plantations and such- the bus ride there was extremely scary though because of the driving!! As far as beaches go- the Perhentian Islands cannot be beat, they were incredibly beautiful, great snorkelling and very relaxing. Was quite cheap too even though it is an island. Definitely worth a visit! |

if you prefer a shopping trip with sum good nite spots, KL is a good choice.
if you are more into cultural n historical thingy, Malacca (abt 2 hr drive from KL would be good) Ther r open air museums, nice opened air market wher you could get sum goodies in art n craft n antiques.
Penang offer nice beaches but it's nothing if compared to the beaches in the East Coast (Exp Redang Island).
Of course if you r nature lover, the National Parks offers great scenery, nice hiking trip n lots more.
I am a Malaysian from Malacca :) Njoy ur trip!!! |

Definite worth a visit. Where you go depends on what you are looking for out of your holiday. KL is a great shopping/dining city. Quite cheap in comparison to the west and not so hectic as Bangkok or Hong Kong. Take a half day city tour to get your bearings.
Most of the popular beach resorts are on the west coast but consider flying to Sabah on Borneo, still part of Malaysia. We stayed at the Shangri La beach resort which a good quality all inclusive hotel with plenty to do and it has the advantage of having it's own small orang utang rehabilitation centre if are in to that kind of thing. |

Penang and Perak is my favourite states to go. The durian fruits represent the food of Malaysia. The Thai one are not so good because they cut if from the tree before they get ripe, that's why you can see the branches of the durian in Thai markets are very long. But beware, remember to have a "price war" before you buy the durian because sometimes some seller offer a higher price for the tourist.
But don't forget the brothers at the East, Sabah & Sarawak. If you're looking for a quite place to relax and see the traditional things of different races, it's a good place to visit. |

If you want a beach holiday check out Langkawi (I loved it). Other beautiful islands include Perhentian, Redang and Tioman. If you're looking for nature, then go to the rainforests in Pahang or Sabah and Sarawak (East Malaysia). If you want city, then go to KL for shopping and food.
Whether or not things are cheap depends on your exchange rate. US$1 = about MYR3.50. Don't look for bargains in KLCC, unless you are looking for international or branded goods. It's pretty expensive. You can find more affordable clothes and accessories in Mid-Valley Mall, which caters more to the local masses. |

Don't miss Turian fruit. It is king among fruits. The only thing is that its aroma should be acceptable to you. Enjoy your Malaysian holidays! |

You can come to Penang, it's nice and the hotel services is good. You can go to the shopping mall, Gurney Plaza, Queensbay Mall... Cameron Highland is good too, nice weather there, around 21 degrees. You can drink tea, eat strawberries and many more things to do. KL is the best place to visit, the Petronas Twins Tower is awesome, KL
Tower is great too. You can go visit the KLIA, the biggest
airport in the Southest Asia. Also, you can go the Sabah to climb the Mount Kinabalu, the higgest moutain in Southest Asia. |

Kuala Lumpur for city and night life, Penang, Kuching for nature and Langkawi...

Yes, quite a few times as a matter of fact. However, the last time I was in Kuala Lumpur, I was robbed at knife point near a police station. Therefore, I will never go back to Malaysia again... even if it's for free. |

Depending on which state you're visiting. KL will be more for shopping. Stuff there are reasonable depending on where u come from. If you have a few more days to spend why not visit Singapore too. Its at the southern end. Its a clean and beautiful island. Lots of Branded Stuff etc., at affordable prices. Singapore is having a Big Singapore Sale at this time of the yr and things are dirt cheap compared to European countries and US. Besides shopping, there are food to savour, night spots you'll love. Beautiful beaches. Places of interest. Lots of things to do and see here. Hope you'll come visit Singapore too. You'll never regret it. |
