Geographically, Filipinos are ASIANS.

Racially, Filipinos are PACIFIC ISLANDERS (mostly).

Culturally, Filipinos are HISPANICS.

They are now labelled as Pacific Islanders because of Western American bias toward the Philippine culture to distinguished them apart from progressive Asians like Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Indians, Thailanders, Malaysians.

Since the Philippines is composed of many islands --some 7,000 plus, the American linguist consider the Philippines Pacific Islands compared to the mono-block islands of other Asians.

As a proof of the Philippines being an Asian nation she is a member of the South East Asian nations--an association of progressive Asians prior to Philippine economic collapse that set the stage for the linguistic bias.

errr....Filipinos are Asian. We are situated in South East Asia. We are part of the Malay race, we love rice, and we are about 5 hours away from the Pacific Islands by plane.

I've met someone who said that we Filipinos are not Asian. And I asked him which continent Philippines belongs?
Definitely We are Asians. Some Asians don't want to be called as Asians. Then be it. Pacific Islanders or Asians what matters most is that Filipinos should be proud of what and who they are.
