There are nice and not-so-nice people. Generally, they're much nicer than most others. They however lack basic etiquette, manners and common courtersy. E.g. They stare too much at peolple who do not look Malaysian, some communities think spitting in public is OK, people in service industry rarely wish others or clients and if someone accidently nudges you in a crowded public place, they find saying sorry the hardest word to say.

Yes - Malaysians are by nature and cukture very nice. We follow Eastern philodophy. However, there are many different non-Malaysians who may be very nasty living in Malaysia who you will mistaken as Malaysians, so do be careful not to generalize. Errr--also be wary of black sheep...

In order to judge for yourself, u can ask a very controversial question in different side (countries) and see how is the reply, then u will know. The question can be something indirectly related to what u want to know :-)
Eg: i posted a question in country A, i got 6 replies within an hour. I posted the similar question in country B, i got 40% nasty replies, the balance was not helpfull too. I posted in country C, only 1 useless reply after 3 days.
