Yep, no doubt in that. We, Filipinos, are very smart. In fact, i can say we're the smartest. Remember the "I Love You" virus (aka Love Bug)?

Take a look at the country , look at the roads , look at the over-population , look at the widespread corruption , look at the electric which often goes off , look at the drivers and what they drive , many have no drivers license and drive terribly . Look at the awful sidewalks with its constant hazards . Look at the filth thrown everywhere in the streets , ride any street and you can see people urinating on the sidewalks everywhere .
If , indeed , Filipinos are among the smartest ; they have a very strange way of manifesting this "intelligence" .

Anyway, one of my biggest gripes of Filipinos (actually every race does this to an extent) is how they lump an individual Filipino's achievement as a whole, as if every Filipino achieved it.

It's like how some Americans love to say "Americans invented the light bulb!" No, Americans did not ******* invent the light bulb, it was Thomas Edison who invented the light bulb! I hate people taking credit for **** they didn't do....

Probably no more or no less then people elsewhere in the world

@ Very.. no matter what people say, you cannot be bias about information. Dont over generalize everything, like no pride and etc... And those filipino friends of yours, let me guess.. they werent born in the Philippines/grew up there were they?

And pleassee Filipino's dont look up to Japan, Korea or China... Just like Japan doesnt look up to korea or to China or vice versa... So dont go way over yourself...

say if filipinos are truly smart people, smarter perhaps-- for the sake of argument-- than a indonesians; would an indonesian become smarter if he or she were to get filipino citizenship?

conversely, say if filipinos are stupid, more stupid than americans; will a filipino become smarter if he or she were to get a u.s. citizenship?

some people are smart. some people are not so smart. some filipinos are very smart. some filipinos are not very smart.

unfortunately no.... history shows that the filipinos didnt invent anything in the early century that would be used in the everyday lives of humans. HOWEVER, shockingly, the Chinese did invent stuff in the early century such as the 'toilet' with a flushing system.... well not really a flushing system, but they built toilets directly above a small river that would wash away whatever fell into it... as 'unintelligent' as they look, those people are actually very bright.

Mahtan Orona - Since I worked with HIV-AIDS for over twenty years I would be interested in the HIV cure that a Filipino discovered. To my knowledge therre is no cure for HIV and I am still in regular contact with WHO and AIDS Organizations in the States as a consultant and I believe they would advise me of a cure.

People giving false information like you are dangerous to the youth that begin to believe because HIV/AIDS people live longer there is a cure and they get careless. Please stop saying there is a cure before you cause someones death.

What I believe is all kind of individuals are equally blessed with knowledge.It just in different ways we excel.We Filipinos know some of the things that the other race may not and vice versa.

I also want to comment about the invention thing...
There are lots of invention that ORIGINALLY invented by fellow Filipinos it wasn't just given a chance and support by our government and they chose to sell the factual information to foreign countries although in return that made them to no avail of the right or credit on the said invention.

Yes I believe that Filipino people were smartest of all time and we will to show of our intelligence and being a potential of our talents that we will have and we should to be a proud it our talents was gifted from our God and to show it of our talents and our intelligence in front of all people out there from different countries and they really an appreciated of our talents like music,arts,sports and a lot more and even we will to answer it of these questions in Yahoo Answers and we should a proud to be our Filipinos to being a smartest in our own country

Not really if your talking as the country as a whole. There is alot of people there not going to school and though there are very bright minds there I can't agree with you I'm afraid. Filipino's are however some of the hardest and toughest people I know. All the years of conquerors and wars have really toughened the people up. That they should be proud about.

Those are not a big evidence to prove that Filipinos are not smarts... its impossible to have a country w/o experiencing corruption (even some developed country have this one) , population (why CHINA is progressive country, But china is the most populated see?)

YES and NO. YES when it comes to earning a living because people will always finds a way of earning a living for example, doing and selling pirated CD and DVD, falsification of public documents (go to recto, you can see bunch of people there who do fake transcript, diplomas, license, receipts for only 150-300 pesos) i myself was a customer there back then when i was in college because i had a failed subject and i didnt want my mom to see it so i went there and let them do a fake class card. It cost me 150 pesos..hehehe!. After they snatch your wallet or jewelries they are going to sell it to the public. After they snatch your cellphone they are going to sell it in recto then they discreetly followed the buyer and hold up the new cellphone then sell it again. Those were the few things. NO they are not smart. Look at the politics in PI. The reason why the economy is not doing good its because of the political leaders.

they are more clever than smart. (specially the politicians) because if you say smart, academic intelligence comes to my mind...and I think other countries surpass the philippines with regards that aspect..(as we can't afford to give the deserving ones the best education in the world there is)

being clever lead to the invention of the following the world doesn't know about

fluorescent light---a filipino invented it and sold it to GE because the phil government didnt believe in his invention. it's not thomas edison!he only invented the incandescent bulb..

karaoke/videoke---again, this was a filipino invention but was sold to the japanese for lack of funding

water powered automobile---no big company wants to support this invention as it has the potential to eradicate the oil industry..(if this was true)

cure for hiv---i forgot the name..

and some other discoveries overshadowed by westerners...

so there...

I don't think the whole world would agree...coz what they see are maids and nurses. that's how narrowminded the world is...
