Yes i'm proud being malaysian..
having to said that i;m proud having friends like you guys from different races & religion.
dont interpreate Ketuanan Melayu the wrong way..
its just show that malays are the origin ppl in malaysia.. not slavery to other races etc2. those who talk that only use at as a propoganda to create diff interpreation which will lead uneasy btween races..
after all.. we live happily & there's no obstruction for ppl getting rich & wealth.. even the riches are from other races.. but malays dont mind..
for me Ketuanan Melayu equals to Sultan of Malays.. |

Well, I will tell you my views as myself, not as a Muslim, or as a Malay, because I do not represent 70% of them. About Ketuanan Melayu, I do not want anyone to be discriminated upon. I believe that everyone is equal. Albeit that, I do want the Malay culture to live on, and not die slowly, nor do I want the Malaysian Indian, or Chinese culture to die, because it is different from that of China or India. However, there is one thing I would like the country to be, I want it to be an Islamic State, not by name, but by ruling, laws, and structure. Maybe, you would not like it, but, if so, it is only because you do not about it. As a matter of fact, an Islamic State is not discriminatory, it is fair and equal to everyone, if u want to know more about it, I recommend you read the book 'who needs an Islamic State'. The Bumi rights however, I do not agree with. Do you know why? Because it only makes the Malays dependant, and less progressive. Another thing, I like the Sultans and Rajas of Malaysia to be there. No, they are not the Tuan, but they are there to ensure the continuity of the Malay heritage and culture.
Come on people.. Just spit it out.. There is freedom of typing in YAM, if not in Malaysia... |

in my opinion, the term Ketuanan here mean the landlord, the founder, the origin of the place....so what ever happen in malaysia, we cant forget that melayu race that first stay in this land, thats why before Malaysia, the name is Tanah Melayu... but now Malaysia is multi racial country, so why not we live peacefully each other? after all in heaven there is no specific races, rite guys....

Well,it is a very difficult question for me to answer.Sometimes I wish I was in UK with my uncle, then again,I wish I could stay here. But what happened early this year and ending of 07,really made me feel,'I wish there would be peace again among the races'.So,now,I really like this country.Maybe I should not be telling this. |

Ketuanan Melayu only exist in the Constituition. It reflects the Sultan as the Head of State and Saviour of Islam as the official religion.
In real life Ketuanan Melayu is never practised except for the term Bumiputra. Bumiputra is not for Malays only. It consists of many other ethnics natives to each states. Do you know there are chinese in Sabah who is also considered as Bumiputra? But because Malays made up the largest ethnics group of Bumiputras, they bear the brunts of pros and cons of criticism. For good or bad, I am proud to be a Malaysian. |

Ketuanan Melayu hmm hmmm
it is just to aknowledged everyone that it used to be named 'Tanah Melayu' and in regards of Kesultanan Melayu
As this was their land, Malaysia wouldn't be here now if it is not for them.
Ketuanan Melayu = 'Master and Slave' is the wrong interpretation as we never practise that even when Malaysia was known as 'Tanah Melayu'
The term 'Ketuanan Melayu' should NEVER be abolished for the sake of all.

Malays here in Malaysia obviously have HIGH tolerations towards others even now, if you were to compare non-malays in Malaysia and in other parts of the world let's take in Indonesia for example, you'll see how lucky everyone are. In Indonesia , you can't even use other names except Malay name....See? |

We should all be proud being Malaysians irrespective of who we are individually. The only problem we have now is the lack of something really concrete to identify us with other than race - perhaps by a single language, custom or even culture? |

know no longer tuan, puan.
Last time, if someone has money,
due to lack of vocabulary and status level,
every rich man will be address as 'tuan'.
Now,
rich indian man can be called 'masterji'
rich chinese man can be called 'taiko'
rich thais man can be called ' jaao naai'
so dear, don't bother about ketuanan thingy,
it just a propaganda.
you have money, you live well (like ananda krishnan)
you got no money, no one will call u madamji (?)
Edit: if u have money, buy a lot of tanah and rumah,
then you can be tuan tanah & tuan rumah. |

Fairness, justice and opportunities for all malaysian citizens irrespective of race and religion should be the goal of Ketuanan Melayu. |

i'm very proud to be a malaysian
to be from a country where it is multicultural and multiracial yet be harmonious
if i'm not mistaken, malays are also pendatang, just way earlier than chinese and indians
orang asli are the original inhabitants of this land
same as the white people who are also pendatang from europe to america |

Every Malaysian should be proud of being Malaysian. How great it would be if there is a Malaysia= Ketuanan Malaysia instead of Malaysia=Ketuanan Malayu. |

Proud to be Malaysian?
Does Malaysia make me proud?
....
To me, "ketuanan" is a condescending term. Like master and slave.
While I'm not naive enough to believe that there will be equality among all the races anytime soon, I certainly hope that we can bridge the gap. |
