I would say - no. I've met many Filipinos who don't like blacks but they all seem to like whites. There is some discrimination between the Filipinos as well based on skin pigment (lighter tones being more desirable and treated with more respect).
Being white myself I am always treated better by the upper class Filipinos and the lower class folks always try to take advantage of me. Tricycle drivers will always try to overcharge me because I'm a foreigner. I paid the fare one time without argument then immediately went to the office downtown to report the vehicle #. A few days later the guy showed up at my door with his wife and kids begging me to drop the complaint since it was a 1000 peso fine (several days pay for the guy). It amazes me how they all think we're too stupid to report them.
The open markets are a pain in the *** if you're a foreigner here. They will always try to overcharge so stick to vendors who have the prices marked clearly. The locals can haggle but foreigners can forget about it.
Most businesses/restaurants/government agencies seem to treat the blacks/white better than the locals. For example, my wife notices she gets better service when we are together compared to when she is alone. |

Its sad to say, but NO not all is treated equal in the Philippines. As I'm a white American and when ever I go places I see that I get better service then most, one example is when we went to BIR to get the property we bought transferred and my Filipino friend waited for over an hour to get a signature on a document and when he came back where we were waiting and told me that the man is there but they are putting him off, I told him I would go with him and as soon as I walked into the office the papers were signed in 2 minutes, my friend told me they would feel ashamed if I was having to wait for the signature. Another is well driving I very seldom get stopped as when the traffic control person sees me I get waved through and he blows his whistle for the car behind me to stop, THIS treatment I don't mind as I hate setting in traffic, but going into Malls and going into a store and see the sales clerks almost running to help you when you see others in the store that where there first is NOT fare and now I have my wife go into the store and I set back and watch, if they come up and give her service GREAT and if they ignore her, then walk in and if they notice us and come then I say no thank you and find another store. Heck I open the door for my father-n-law when we go shopping, the way I see it, my blood is the same color as everyone else and I don’t care how thick your wallet is. I learned that a long time ago while I was a Realtor and made lots of sells because I didn’t judge the book by its cover.

Filipinos are most anti black people in the world; I’m from India and have dark skin which I’m not ashamed of. I use to date a Filipino so I used to take trips back to her home town, boy the family practically the whole village used to take part oh make fun of dark man. Talk about ignorance. |

I find that Filipinos are really hard on one another. As a white cano I have no complaints about the way I'm treated. However, my wife takes a lot of verbal abuse from taxi drivers and jeepney drivers, baggage handlers, etc if she doesn't pick my pockets for them. Same with the open market people. They got some LIP for her every time. I have learned each time she starts to speak to them in response it's in my defense. So that's my key to kick somebody's a.s.s.. They get quiet really quick when I join in. I used to be a Marine Corps Drill Instructor so I know how to speak the international language of VOLUME. Body language works pretty good too. They're not so mouthy next time. |

Off course they are not treated the same.
Well's answer pretty well sums it up except that he doesn't mention that this practically applies to every country--the USA included. |

I don't think white and black are treated differently. Its just that Filipinos are hospitable, thats why some misinterpreted such treatments. But the truth is... no matter what ur race is, white or black, or even fellow Filipino,as long as u are a visitor, you will definitely be treated warmly not only by those "poor" (as what i read from someone) but even by rich or middle class Filipinos. |

As objectively as possible, in my 30+ years of experience with Filipinos, subconsciously if you are:
Fair skinned or tall or rich or considered pretty/handsome (in the caucasian vein) or any combination of the aforementioned physical qualities, you will generally be given a noticeable amount of deference compared to others. You will tend to be given the benefit of the doubt, be feared or easily admired more purely based on these qualities.
Qualities such as tangible achievements, education, intelligence, kindness and articulateness are not so well-regarded or respected.
The old generation of pinoys are irrationally fearful of blacks, especially American blacks. Hey, don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger.
There are exceptions of course, but not all that prominent. Isn't it crazy? |

I'm friends with a filipina and from the stories she's told me of the crazy province she's from...
well... let's just say...
leave your valuables locked at home in a safe..
dont carry around huge amounts of money or expensive items..
unless of course you want to get mugged.

Yes. Our ancestors came from different race so Filipinoes dont mind the race or the color of the skin. We always look on the inside personality of a person. |

Black and White as far as in business establishments are concerned are treated better than regular Filipinos. But if you are a Filipino and you look like you have money then you would get the same treatment. |

No. Most Filipinos are very poor and whites are given deferential treatment. Blacks are treated similarly to whites unless they happen to be Negritos down in the southern Philippines. Some Negritos are from tribes that are more primitive and treated as such. To the average poor Filipino, all foreigners regardless of race are treated differently. There is a kindness, a politeness given. |

During many visits to the Philippines, I learned that there is a variety of people in public with different perceptions.
I know that there are anti-american filipino's in public.
I do get some cold stares from filipino men. Its crazy because they don't even know me.
Classification of human to human because of the color of your skin is an insult to the creator's creativity and wisdom.
I don't understand why a human will think that he/she is greater than anyone. |
