You already said it, if your young you have not much experience indepth at anything yet .... That makes growing old the most satisfying and nothing to be afraid of . When you are old , you had many experiences in life that makes you wiser and a good teacher.
Growing old made better by real life experiences and knowledge that nobody could put a price on . You have committed many mistake along the way , that all this mistakes have thought you lesson that when you teach these to your children or younger ones will hopefully prevent them from making the same mistakes.
You only are afraid to be old when you ignore and did not learn from people you interacted with , from knowledge that you did not value , and not loving along the way .
Am 51 now , have two wonderful boys 18 and 15 years old and everytime I tell them stories of my youth and my experience in interacting with all the people I luckily come in contact with , they learn and are amazed that all these memories and knowledge are just there for their taking and learning.
Now its up to them to take in the rights and throw what are wrongs in my my own experience, the apply them in their life. |

Not exactly. It is a fact of life that everyone grows old and the best policy is to do it sensibly and gracefully. Even though you may get a few wrinkles or white hairs after 40 or 50 yrs of age, you have at least enjoyed many decades of beauty and youth. Thing is take care of your diet, physical and mental health and strive for your goals and dreams. An average person nowadays in modern society enjoys 80 yrs of life-span.When you reach 50 yrs old, you would have acquired so much knowledge, skills and wide experience that you become a kind of gem, a treasure which the young can look up to. So to be happy and contented, live with a sense of purpose and you should not worry or being afraid of growing old.
Hope this allays your fears and wish you long life! |

I used to feel that way and discreet about my age but now I'm proud of being 34 years old. At this age, people tend to take you seriously and in my line of work, it helps to be maturer. Sometimes age is not a factor, its what's inside you as a person that matters. Think Sharon Stone and Dior. |

Yes and no. I can be afraid of it sometimes, but I also like it.
Growing old means more responsibility to me. Job, kids, payments etc. are frustrating (I have not experience these things yet, but I hear people's stories) I will be independent on my own, paying everything using my own money and taking care of parents, wife and kids. I can't play games and surf internet like I used to do when I'm young. :(
Growing old also means more experience to me. One thing I must have when I'm old is a PhD in any Science field! I NEED THAT!!! Other than that, I will get freedom (Though, short-lived) to do what I think is the best for me. I will get respects from people and I have my wallet full of $$$ ($$$ is a must)!
Next year, I'll be 16, I tend to not worry much about the future because it makes me lose my concentration in my study or when I'm enjoying my youthness. :( |

Hey, you're not alone. Honestly I am.. not the grey hair and the wrinkles that worry me.. I'm always independent. I haven't figured it out yet how I will deal with it when I've become weak and frail and senile...
I feel sympathetic to this family.. an Aussie granpa killed himself after he failed a driving test.. he was over 80. He felt useless. He didn't want to become a burden to his children. Sad eh? |

Hey Sarah.. We're at the same age.. Growing old is a process of life and we can't stop time. Accept the fact and appreciate every moment we have. I'm afraid of getting old, but I'm more fear if I wasted my time just like that doing nothing. And do what we can and what we want when we're still young, able to do that. |
