Since my marriage a few years ago to a Filipina, I spend a lot of time there in our Brgy. The people there finally stop treating me like a tourist/space alien and accept me into their circle. My friend at the vulcanizing shop even declared to me "you are Philippines" in his best attempt at english. That made me proud. I'm not a big drinker or womanizer like some of my expat comrades and when the local people learned that I'm just a regular guy like them, they accept me. I'm very happy when in Philippines with my wife and extended family. I brag about it when I'm in USA and I am very proud about it. Does that count? |

for me... be proud who you are, what is your nationality...
although I heard many bad comments about pinoys/pinays...
But, I'm not one of them... one thing, we shouldn't generalize that all Filipinos many bad traits... many are! but I'm still being proud to be Pinoy, there are more "respect" you can find in the Philippines... Most Filipinos are concerned to their kapwa (neighbor).
Ipinagmamalaki ko ang pagiging isang Pilipino. |

what's filipino? just kidding. im proud of myself as a human being. i was born and raised in philippines but i would not consider myself part of any race. of course i would say im asian when filling out forms like a credit card application, etc. it's just a filipino is not a good representation of me and no other race or nationality. im unique, one of a kind. i think everybody is unique and shoud not judge a person based on their skin color or nationality. to all filipino who are offended by my answer, before you hate me, wait and listen to this. since most filipinos are catholic, in god's eyes there is no filipino or american or asian or white/black, just your heart. |

I am.
I shall proudly wave the flag while bullets whistle by me, while my comrades fall left and right (and others go for beer). I shall fight with sword or kitchen knives. I shall fight with bazookas and bamboo canons. I shall fight with my bare hands! Just don't let the foe be a bear, for I shall definitely dance with it the polka. And I don't know how to dance! |

ABSOLUTELY NOT.
I'm not proud, but I've learned to accept it. (after years of hating it, I finally realized I can't do anything about it.)
I'm not proud because Filly's come off so ditzy and filipina's are always going like "OHHH!!! i need an american/european husband!", it annoys the crap out of me.
And whats to be proud of? TELL ME? WHAT CULTURE DO WE HAVE? (yeah sure, language and our national food and clothes BUT WHAT ELSE?) WE LOOK LIKE FREAKIN' COPYCATS. and we seem like we're always trying to please and impress other nationalities. I HATE THAT. STOP TRYING TO SUCK UP TO EVERYONE ELSE, IT MAKES US SEEM LIKE WE'RE LOWER THAN THEM.
I respect indians alot. know why? because they have SO MUCH culture and they stick to it.
AND when people look at me, they give me this look, like "she's probably like the rest of em'" and "she probably has a thick accent", I ALSO HATE IT when filly's come to me like "KABAYAN! here's some flyers! wanna send something by cargo?", when people ask me where I'm from, IM EMBARASSED, because they go like "Ohh *looks down* ok,bye".
When filly's talk to me, I act like I can't understand them and reply in English to avoid more flyers being shoved in my hands (THEY LITERALLY DO THAT)
I'm not saying all FIlipino's are like this. BUT MOST OF THEM ARE.
STEREOTYPES PEOPLE PUT ME IN - UGH. writing this answer just reminded why I HATE BEING FILIPINO.
Yeah sure, call me a ***** and disrespecting. BUT THIS IS REALLY HOW I FEEL. |
