As a Filipino, do you love the Philippines? |
OK I am asking this because I need it for my thesis. I need honest opinions as well as reasons as to why you answered YES or NO. take into account the media and how it shows the country to be both locally and in other countries. thanks any opinion would really help. HONEST opinions of course |

Yes! Very!
I put it this way...your home is filled with those that are special to you. Even if they are a mix of good, bad and ugly...it is still your home! And you would always go back and love it whatever good, bad, ugly happens elsewhere. |

I DO!!!
I love the Philippines. This is my one and only country in the world. There is no place like home.
At least, I can go on Medical-Dental-Optical Mission once given a chance to have enough money to buy medicines, food and transport the volunteer doctors to and from the sites. But at present, every day is Christmas day for the street children by feeding them and by attending of an indigent to pursue her college degree.
With all these unselfish deeds, I am sure, GOD will truly bless the poor ones with additional good citizens who will take care in the future of the Mother Land, The Philippines, my home sweet home.
GOD BLESS THE POOR. GOD BLESS THE PHILIPPINES, AMEN.
Good luck!!!!! |

yes, since it's the only country I can truly call my own.
Besides, we have lots to be proud of, that's why we were raped of our resources and ripped off of the credits that should've been attributed to a lot of our Filipino inventors. |

yes! i'm proud to say that i love my country. i was born and grew up in the philippines but my family and i are now living in the US. i didn't want to migrate here but we have no choice, US is the best place to give our kids a better future. i don't want my kids to grow up in poverty like my husband and i did. i remember myself working in a carinderia, waitressing and selling barbecues in a street corner and on weekends selling banana cakes and brownies in pasig market. and my husband, at the age of 8, he was selling plastic bags, balut, kakanin and cigarettes in the street. i don't want my kids to experience that. we know how hard it is to earn a living in the philippines but at the end of the day, you only have enough for 1 meal. that is not the life i want for my kids. even a better education is only for the rich. in the philippines, only the rich get richer and the poor gets stuck and sunk in poverty.
we live here now in california, i can say that we have a better chance of survival. we live a 2 bedroom condo, we are able to pay our bills on time, we own 2 cars now, my husband has a stable job, i volunteer in school and my kids are enrolled in a distinguished school. and you know what? we can afford to send our 3 kids to that distinguished school because it's free! even their breakfast and lunch meals in school are discounted and their school supplies are already provided by the school district. how cool is that?
i still love the philippines. do you know that most filipinos here in the US no longer know how to speak tagalog? but me, i insist my kids on speaking tagalog in our house and around filipino relatives. i'm proud of my heritage, i am a filipino and nothing will ever change that. |

Yes of course! That's the place where I grew up. My friends and family lived there. I have lots of good memories there! That's the only place where I truly belong. You will realize that when you move to other country. It seems nostalgic... |

Yes, I love the Philippines. Despite the fact that I am half German and Half Filipino and have seen Germany, I always envision myself living out my old age in the Philippines. My husband and I are now working in Dubai, but our dreams are always to be able to go back and live the rest of our days in Philippines just by the simple fact that despite it being poor and corrupt, it is still and always will be home for us... |

I hate my country is the majority answer of most Filipinos--that is the reason they go to Saudi Arabia to earn because there is no work in their provinces.
That is also the reason they go to America to live because they hate their own homes.
The country is poor, the people are dishonest, the environment is dirty, the city is decaying, the whole place is rotten, the government officials are corrupt.
There seems to be more prostitutes there than decent women.
Of course these are overgeneralizations and jumping to conclusions.
But since a Filipino has no choice, he stays and pretend he loves the only country that imprisons him and enslave him while foreigners dictates the rules of the game. |

The Philippines is a country ...
- included in the list of countries with the most corrupt government
- visited by typhoon annually.
- where majority of the people are below poverty level.
- that is proud and willing to export "labor" (mostly our "best" people) to earn dollars.
- that encourages foreign investors in but sets up a lot of red tape to discourage them.
- we remove "bad" people working in the government but elects them into office a few years after as if nothing happened.
This is the Philippines I grew up in. Inspite of the negative side, "YES !!!" I love the Philippines. This is my home. A lot of other countries are better, I admit but there is really no place like home. |

I am not a Filipino, but my best friend of 7 years is, and I've got to say...I don't think she cares too much for the Philippines. I say this because though her sisters live there, she has lived in the U.S. all her life...and given the opportunity, I highly doubt that she would consider moving. And she has visited there before so it's not like she has never been. |
