the flight included 36 thai's, many married couples, children, and other tourist traveling to visit Thailand as they do every year, not just for sex tours. your narrow minded attitude upsets me since I live here. you know nothing about this country or much about anything as your question shows. too bad you weren't on that flight along with your other sex tourist friends.

Sadly many people, such as yourself speak about places like Thailand without having the experience to understand the nation or its people. Thailand is a nation with a rich heritage, wonderful people and beautiful scenery. While the sex trade is one facet of life there over the past several decades, it is being vigorously attacked by Thai law enforcement. I lived in Phuket for a while. My friends and I (housewives, teachers and volunteers, FYI) used that airport and airline so many times. We did Bangkok "shopping runs", used it to connect to flight to visit home in the US, and tour other parts of Asia.
There were holiday makers, Thais, and foreign workers living in Thailand all aboard that plane.
When people say things like this, it helps promote a negative opinion of a wonderful place.
Thailand is known for friendly people, wonderful history and beautiful nature. Prostitutes can be found in any country.

Very very sad person, Instead of sitting at a computer asking stupid questions, try searching yahoo for Thailand, then you will see that Thailand has far more to offer than sex, i visit Thailand every year with my wife and have never had sex with a prostitute, we have found some of the most beautiful beeches/places/people in the world.

Here's the list of the people that died in the plane crash, it looks like about half of the people that died were women and there were a lot of couples that died as well. No - most people go to Thailand - and in particular to Phuket for the beaches and the weather - some of the people killed on that plane were grandparents - trying to share a holiday together.

Maybe some of them were, but that is not the only reason people go there. Thailand is a popular vacation spot, and has beautiful beaches. I'm sure people go there on business, as well.

You speak of a place that you have no knowledge or understanding of, Its is true many males come here as sex tourists. Many Families Thai and Falang died in the crash as well as many other tourist and local people. Thailand is a land of beauty and the most friendly people in the world. Once a person visit Thailand most will come back on many Vacations.

Thailand has a lot to see, from beautiful beaches, to amazing ancient temples, to tribal villages, to mountain scenery to wild life. The majority of people who visit Thailand do NOT go there for sex tourism.

As a male who has travelled extensively through South East Asia and NEVER laid a hand on a female (or male) there, I find your question unbelievably ignorant and offensive to the people who died in the disaster, as well as the millions of people who visit the country each year for a clean holiday with nothing to do with sex.

Last december my girlfriend and I went to Thailand .
After a short stay in BKK, we decided to reach Pukhet for a dive cruise in the Adaman sea.
We booked our seats on the web thru the "one2go" airline site (the one that crashed the other day in Pukhet)
I can tell you that about 50% of the passengers were tourists and most of them were couples or famillies on vacations...
This crash could have happened to me ...and by respect to these people I don't think it's fair to compare all these people to sex tourists !
You should not consider every tourist in Thailand as a sex tourist ! There are so many nice things to do and see over there...

You are badly mistaken. Phuket has one of the finest dive spot in the world, rated in the top 10 and so there are many genuine tourists heading that way to holiday.

Any air crash is always a sad time for people and families involved. Let's not speculate too much. Pray for the affected families instead.

Sex tourism is available everywhere ; you don't have to come to Thailand . Take a tour of Europe , every city saturated with prostitutes , from all over , especially eastern Europe . Daughters of many poor families in norther Thailand go south to find a job , meet a foreigner and make some money . Some come home as heroes , with enough money to build a house , repair their parents home , buy some land , afford to get married .

Not all people who come to Thailand are sex tourists or perverts . Most of the people on the plane that so tragically crashed will have been ordinary husbands and wives , boyfriends and girlfriends going for a seaside holiday . Yes, many men loves to go to Thailand for sex as it's readily available there. You can even pick the sex workers from a catalog at the hotel lobby and the woman would be sent to your room. I knew this because I accidentally flipped through a tour package file and on the last few pages, were lots of half-naked women pictures. I asked the Thai guy about it and he told me, it's for men only!! How disgusting!!

Besides sex for men, Thailand is famous for shopping, pagodas, the floating market and eating. Thai food is fantastic! My husband loves to eat Tom Yam Goong and Fresh Coconut Floaties everyday while in Bangkok. Even my 6 years old daughter likes Bangkok as she can get cute and cheap T-shirts, imitation Gameboy's games and most of all, she loves the "Tut-tut" rides!!

Ridiculous question. We all know about the sex industry in Thailand, but as has been said in many good answers above, Thailand is far from being only a destination for sex tourists. The country has so much to offer. Furthermore, in this particular case we're talking about Phuket which is very much a family holiday destination compared to say Samui or in particular Pattaya. I'm flying out to Phuket with my wife after our wedding in November. My parents and my brother and his gf are also joining us, and these kind of trips are just the kind people flying to Phuket take. There were Thai families on that plane, foreign sightseers, people traveling on business, and perhaps, perhaps the odd sex tourist, but your generalisation is insulting and ignorant.

sex tourism happens in spain whe a group of young adults go away for a drinking session and end up sleeping with 10 girls/boys.

The plane crash wasn't "headed for Thailand", it happened in Thailand. And not only pervs do prostitutes, non-pervs also do 'em.
Sexual abuse of children happen in any country, but I seriously doubt that any of the passengers on the plane that crashed in Phuket had any such intentions.
