Good! I love it here. Sure there are problems, but every country has problems. I think China is doing remarkably well considering how much they have progressed in just a few decades from a totally communist economy to a market economy. President Hu Jin Tao has been making some efforts recently to listen more to the "regular Joe" citizens of China. Whether changes come from it, we'll have to see, but it's more than what I see my own war-mongering president doing. He doesn't listen to anyone.

Well for being in China, I will say good. Of course people will say bad ( just like the 1st poster ) but at least it doesn't attack foreign countries.

Not everything is good though : poeple need to be more polite and more educated.

But overall, it is great being there.

Good overall...and getting better. Not perfect but improving. OscarOne is right, not many children getting shot in schools or McDonalds or in drive-by shootings like in the US!

Since your question is in the travel section, I would answer: never have been there and I think it would be a good place to visit. If asking my personal opinion of china, politically vs U.S. it not as good as U.S. would like for many reasons already stated. The people I would think are good people, like any country they have bad people as well. Economically, China is a very prosperous country and gaining wealth, although pollution is a problem as seen in many countries that become industrialized. So good and bad depending on what exactly is asked about.

I would be most worried of the Chinese who are still communist, fascists and are using capitalism and cheap labor to produce goods and services at low prices, dumping this on the world market and using this money to build their military. This is being done by the Chinese very effectively without very much publicity. China wants to be an overwhelming force in the world and a superpower. India is another country that could easily become a superpower because of huge educational and technological advances. Russia is flexing its muscles as well and is helping to arm other countries against the US. They are a small but formidable mini super power due to nuclear and technological advances. Its a dangerous world and I would definitely keep one eye on the Chinese.
