a dog and a cat can be really good platonic friends, that's all.

on the other-hand, ducks and there are several species, can get it on any time.

part of the reason there are so many species of ducks, is that they have been crossing the line over the years.

WOW. I thought I was the only one who thought that. Their puppies/kittens are gonna look like 'CatDog'.

But I doubt they'll actually make an attempt. It would be funny. The dog would probably crush the cat.

Yes, they can. I have seen it with my own eyes. If a male dog gets along with a female cat, and the male dog hasn't been around a ***** in a very very long, then it is possible for it to screw the cat. now obviously they cant have children, but they could do it. It rarely happens, but like most things, giving the right situation, animal behavior can be odd.

Depends on how you look at it and what you consider an affair. Can they reproduce together? No.

Can they still have a loving, physical (non sexual) relationship with each other? Yes. I have a cat (10 pounds) and a dog (75 ponds) that love each other unconditionally. They sleep together, play together (the cat beats the hell out of the dog the dog is very gentle and kisses the cat till he's dripping wet),eat together (not the same food). They would rather be with each other than anyone else....except for maybe me.
