It depends what you are looking for in a happy place to live.
Compared to certain places in Asia, Singapore is modern, very urbanised, clean, orderly, and has a stable government, as well as great recreation places and shopping malls. You can also drive around all the places in a day!
However, there are of course bad things about Singapore, such as its society being too restricted, the rigid laws, and the sometimes stressful and impersonal nature of some of its people.
Other people feel that all the good things outweigh the bad, and that's why they live there. If you don't appreciate the place you live in, move out to another country that you feel suits you! |

Yes I truly do, having travelled throughout asia from the poorest (Indonesia) to the richest (Japan) countries. In fact, if a Singaporean travel worldwide and take a good look, he'll feel fortunate that this country hs provided him such a good headstart right from the type of education he receives. Feel fortunate. |

Oh when you're done studying you'd notice you've had education in one of the best places to have been educated in in Asia and that you've wonderful job opportunities everywhere.
As for National Service, you'll learn to get organized if you put yourself into it and see how a military works. I assure you, Singaporeans are highly sought out by companies to fill managerial positions because of their exceptional organization skills. |

Many countries have National Service... Israel, Greece, Denmark, Sweden, Norway (just to mention a few). Serving your country is the greatest honour, and not a waste of your time. If you don't like something... then do something about getting it changed. |

anyone living in a city will be living a stressful life
here is only good for career and for the children upbringing
when we retired is best to chose a kampung life
it will give much more relaxing condition for later happiness
in the city , the is more possibility when you die nobody know
until they can smell you decay |

I think Singapore should be the most protected place instead of most happiest place. I think happy is subjective matter and happiness is different from person to person. What you mean happiness may doesn't actually means that its happiness for others. For me, I agree with you that serving 2 years of national service is wasting my life, but it definitely benefit me by keeping me more fit and organised then before. So always look for what you can actually benefit from rather than what you can't benefit from it. As its says, always look on the bright side of life. |

Singaporeans are not a happy lot, but perhaps we are slightly happier than Hongkies.
I dun like the pace of life, that we have to work so hard for so little money, unlike 20 years ago, when we just had to work a little and earn a lot.
I dun like the high prices.
I dun like the materialism.
I dun like that in Singapore, a degree is treated just like toilet paper.
I dun like that education and healthcare is not free-of-charge. |

if you can enjoy all the things in your life...
you must be the happiest person...
it is just about what you think...
studying in school is fun and helpful
studying in school is helpless,boring
i can hardly breathe...while the teacher is speaking=.=
i hate going to school, but i still go there
i think it's boring but helpful
so change your thinkings and stay alive...
cheer up my friend~!
i love you

For "wasting" your national service away, you are already compaining.
Wait until you want to find a job and stick to the routinue life until you retire.
By the way, I took a poly course that I dont like - landed in jobs that I dont like, receive the pay that I dont like.
However, life still goes on.
It is a matter of preception. |
