you cannot juge ALL chineese women from the behaviour of SOME of them in BARS, in a PORTUARY CITY... maybe they were professionnal if you see what I mean! you cannot extrapolate based on a nightlife experience in a big city!! There is good and bad everywhere and in everything!

That is what I mean "how sad" - you can criticize as much as you like and you have the right to do so.

I also have the right to tell you that I do not agree with your point of view and the Chinese women in my family and my friends are not the same as you described. Well I'm not working in Shanghai nor from Shanghai.

I've watched the American TV drama "Sex and the City" - but I don't believe all American women act like "Samantha Jones" in the show!

Leave Shanghai and go to Yangzhou for a short vacation or may be Hangzhou both cities are about 2 hours to 3 hours from Shanghai, try to meet some Chinese girls in the street or tea house, not the bars (not in the night), not the professional girls, see whether you can find anyone you can go further to "talk with" then go to bed with (in the first day of meeting)?

You really only meet the kind of people of whom's company you keep.

Can you really find a good meal when you only look for your food in the garbage pail?

(The type of Chinese women you're looking for do not drink, you won't find them in local bars, if you do they will always be escorted by a male companion. You will also have a harder time finding a Chinese woman with traditional values than I did... because your White, a girl with old world traditional Chinese values are more likely date a proper Chinese gentleman.)

My friend, you seem to get angry when we generalize you into just hanging aroung low class areas of Shanghai, but you don't seem to mind generalizing the whole Chinese culture.
(One more word of advice, be very careful about those open ports of call in Shanghai, you may easily recieve the gift that keeps on giving!)

Shanghai has always been the most advanced city in China, i'll guess you were in a 'hot area' though, so labelling Chinese women in general isn't very wise.

This is more of expression of freedom after the oppression in the traditional sense. Look at how other similiar countries do that too, in their own fashion, men club for women in Japan, etc. Hey, isn't this normal in the west?

Eventhough I am a local Shanghainese man, I can understand what you talking about. I too embarrassed about the way our women are behaving. Too westernized and bad for our country image. Many foreigners think our women are very easy for them to get....and sadly, it's true. Most of them are.

Just don't break the law and be nice to everyone without letting yourself lose anything in the process, traditional folks exist evrywhere in this world, life is too short to worry about what everyone is doing or not doing.

be it chinese, american, thai, etc. women, there will be some bad apples in the bunch. So, your comment is an aweful general statement sure to stir up some discussion.

It does seems like you don't have much respect for women in general and hence have the experience you do with the women you've met.

Don't think too highly of yourself because you're white and carry a green card...treat people with respect and you'll get it in return.

I dont totally agree...A few doesnt change the whole lot..Arab men also say American girls have no self-respect..and why is that..they have money to flaunt it about. The same for Shanghai..a local makes 2000 a month, an expat spends 2000 in a pub....A few bills doesnt change anything you know ...
